DD has now outgrown her old baby bottles and only uses sippy cups now (well, she uses silicone topped sippy cups for her formula still, but they ARE sippy cups). Normally I'd save the bottles for the next baby (like we're doing with most of her old baby stuff), but we don't plan on having another baby for about 4 years. I'm afraid the bottle nipples would be all yucky and unusable that far away. She had a LOT of bottles, so they're all still in great condition since I could rotate them being used and most of them still look brand new.
So, what do you do with ur old bottles? Will people buy them at garage sales? Do you just throw them out? I'm going to offer them to my brother who just had a baby, but if he doesn't want them, I'm not sure what to do with them. It seems like a shame to just toss them in the trash when they're in such good condition...

If your brother doesn't want them you can donate them to a thrift store maybe??

I am going through the same thing.... I will throw out al lof th enipples (already threw out the slower-flow nipples he doesn't use) and keep the actual bottles in case I want to use them again. Knowing me I will be nesting for #2 and insist on having new bottles on hand. hehe we'll see.

That's the other thing. I cleaned out the cabinet and found brand new never used bottle nipples for the bottles. They're not in packaging anymore and were washed, but after that, they were put in a ziplock bag to save until the old ones needed to be replaced (they never did cuz all the old bottle nipples are still in good condition). But if someone wanted to throw out all the old nipples, there are new replacements waiting to be used...

These bottles have now been discontinued I believe, so I'd have to get a completely different nipple, and with all the specialized ones out there, I don't know that I could get some I liked that would work with the bottles I have...

I guess that was one of my main concerns...Will people want used bottles from someone they don't know? Or is it like a pacifier and should just be thrown out?

i always kept them, but threw away the nipples. then when you need them again, boil the bottles and buy new nipples.
You could donate the bottles and the new nipples to a pregnancy center, womens shelter, homeless shelter or freecycle.
People will buy them. There are people out there that can't afford to buy them new. They will boil the bottles and the nipples and use them

That's a good idea! Good to know that people will take used bottles. My brother who I'm going to offer them to doesn't have very much money and often can't pay some of his bills, so I'll offer them to him first. But if he doesn't want them, our ESG is doing a collection for a woman's shelter next month (or Oct., I don't remember), so I guess I could donate them to that...
