View Full Version : Keeping the door closed?

We have kind of converted Riley's nursery into a playroom, so that when I start working from home, I can leave him in there to play while I work. The problem is that he loves to push the door closed. Any suggestions or things I can buy that will keep the door open? Do they make some sort of latch or something that we can attach the wall? Help! TIA

What about just putting a baby gate up to keep the door from closing & Riley from escaping in the event that you need a few minutes to work uninterrrupted?

Sorry but that is all I can think of right now.

I like the gate idea...containment is good :D. If you want the door open for him to come in and out of at his own pleasure, I suggest getting piece of material and tying the door to something :heehee

Could always take it off the hinges :teehee I did that to Anya for awhile but that was cause she got in trouble.

Other then that maybe check with home depot/lowes and see if they have any type of clasp for the top of the door so that Riley can't get a hold of it.

I know at schools they have that huge metal looking thing that pushes into the other huge metal thingie that holds the first metal thing :D

Yeah thats kind of what I'm thinking of, Michelle! We already have a gate up, but his door opens to the inside, so he is trapped in there, but he closes the door too, and I am worried that A) he will pinch his fingers, B) he will stand up against the door, and as it swings, he falls C) it may somehow lock etc etc etc.... I might just take the door off, didn't think of that, either. Thanks everyone!

Over with the baby proofing stuff in Target I found this foam thing that you put on the door that keeps it open. I can't find a picture of it online, but it was super cheap.

I don't know if anyone already mentioned this, but at Babies R Us I found little rubber door bumpers that you can stick towards the top and they keep the door from closing. They work wonders! :)

I found that the foam stopper works wonders we have them on every inside door in the house! We actually found them cheaper at Pet Smart though, there it was called a tail pinch guard.

Also wanted to add that if you can not find them just a towel at the top of the door pushed towards the hinges will also work.
