When did you turn the car seat around to face forward? Trents car seat states that the child needs to be at least 20 pounds AND a year old.

Well we had a graco infant seat, so had to buy a forward facing seat for Cam. We moved her to a front facing seat on her birthday because she was like 20. something lbs..

I turn them at 1. Cameron was 19 lbs but his legs were so scrunched up. I know Wyatt will be over 20 by the time he's 1.

Alexis was 19 months and 19 lbs.
JD was 22 lbs and 10 days shy of 1 year
Sarah is 4 1/2 motnhs and there for still rear facing.

We put them in a rear facing convertable once they outgrow the infant seat. We leave them rear facing as long as we can as it is safer for them to travel that way. I turned Taniyah around while Rod was gone so she must have been 18 months. I've had a 2.5 year old still rear facing because he was SO little and didn't weigh the 20 pounds.

all 3 of mine were turned around before 1. all 3 were over 20lbs and were pushing the car seats loose. so i talked to their peds and go the ok to turn them. our thinking, better to be forward facing in a tight carseat than backwards is a loose seat.

We just turned Zach around. He was scrunched up in the back and way over the 20 pounds, but he will be one in exactly one month so I don't think it is that big of a deal.

I can't WAIT until we can turn Tooters seat around! Since we have a little Subaru, the passenger has to sit with their knees jammed into the dash and has to sit at 90 degrees. It is SO uncomfortable! :no

He outgrew his stroller/carrier seat at about 4 months and his other seat is so big! We love it though! :D

I turned Madison at a year old because she was 20lbs. I wish I would have waited a little bit longer just to be safe since she was just at the 20lb mark.

Hayden is already over 20lbs so I will probably turn him around sometime after he turns a year old.

Hailey is 24 lbs. We had to move her to a convertible seat at 3 months since that's when she outgrew the length for her infant carrier. But we will not turn her around until she turns 1. We'll probably turn her the day after her birthday. The converible seat is so big it doesn't fit too well rear facing in our car, so we want to turn it as soon as possible but will wait until she reaches a year for her safety....If our car was bigger, I'd leave her rear facing until she reached 35 lbs-the max weight for her carseat in rear facing position....

Ethan hit the 20lb mark when he was around 8 months old. We'll be turning him around AFTER his first birthday. When speaking with a carseat technician, I was told it's best to keep them rear-facing as long as possible due to brittle bones. Even if legs are touching the seat, it's less severe to have broken legs than a broken neck or collarbone.

I followed the 1 year AND 20 lb rule. DD was 20 lbs by the time she was 9 months old, but I followed the recommendation to wait.

I turned Breanna around before she was 20lbs. and 1. She was 11 months. She was close to 1 cause I know John was deployed when I did it and he left just days before she turned 11 months and when I went over to my one friend's house I still had her rear facing and that was a couple weeks after John left. She was pushing against the seat which would cause the carseat to not be as tight and secured. We didn't have one of those attachment things at that time so I felt it was better for her to switch her around that way the seat stayed secured. With Johnny we have one of the attachments so he can't push the carseat loose like she did. He'll be 1 next month, Sept. 27, and if he is 20lbs. when I take him to his 1 yr. well baby then I'll switch him. If not then I'll just wait til he is. I can't see him not though. At 9 months he was 1lb. 8 ozs. away from 20lbs. Breanna was smaller and shorter at the same than him and even she was like 19lbs. 7 ozs. at her 1 yr. well baby.

We turned Quaint around at 1...she wasn't quite 20 lbs yet, but she was very long and was way too cramped facing to the rear.
Timmy was turned at 1 and 20lbs though.

It varys by state but some states require 20lbs AND 1 year and some require 1 or the other. IL requires both. at 13 months we put him forward. (We tried to wait as long as possible) He is so tall he was getting scrunched rear facing

We turned Blake at 10 months, Like DOnna said he was kicking his seat loose and his dr said since he was like 25 lbs it was fine. Jer is 23lbs but he is still rear facing his legs still have room and he has shown no intrest in trying to push his seat with his feet. lol

We turned Ella around when she was 20 lbs. She was just too big for her carrier and trying to sit up in it so we bought a new carseat and now she's great.

I think he was 10-12 mths... he was over 20lbs when I moved him though ;)
And he had been out of his "infant carrier" since he was 5 mths.. he was too heavy for it.

George was between 9-10 mo old when I turned him around. He had been well over the 20lb mark at 4 mo :teehee He didnt use the infant seat that came with the stroller combo for very long at all..... We got him a britax that should last him until he is 4-5 at which point auntie piggle's booster will come into play...

But Jill, check your local state laws... some require that they remain rear facing until they are 1yr old. Some states say 1 yr & 20 lbs, some its either/or some *like KY* only state that a child must remain in a safety seat until they are 8 yrs & 80 lbs...

I think Missouri just changed their law......but it's 8yrs or 80bls. If they are under 8, but 80lbs or 4' 9" tall, they don't need them.
