Becca 08-28-2006, 05:14 PM We forwarded our mail to my parents house for the mean time. You can also just use "general delivery" at whatever your new zipcode is, that will send it to the post office for you to check - but I'm always afraid I'll wind up losing mail if I do it that way. wolfspawprint 08-28-2006, 05:15 PM Do you know when you are going to have a place? You can have the Post Office hold your mail and then have them forward it to you when you have a new place. Amber V 08-28-2006, 05:15 PM I am wondering if we can secure a PO Box for Wa before we get there. Amber V 08-28-2006, 05:16 PM We leave Il in mid October and I hope to find a house with in a week of getting there. airyn1 09-10-2006, 11:05 AM Growing up we always had it sent to my mom's parents house. Our own family hasn't moved without having an address yet, but if we were to it would get forwarded to my mom's house. Are you moving to the Bremerton/Bangor area? Are you looking to live in housing? If so, you might be able to call them and see if they can assign you a house over the phone. I'm not sure about Bangor, but Jackson Park has so many empty houses. I'm all alone in my building of 6 three bedroom units. We moved here as part of a Home Port Change and they assigned us a unit over the phone before we moved up here. I'm not sure if that was just because of the Home Port Change or what. Heather 09-10-2006, 11:43 AM I asked the lady at the post office here and she gave me a form to fill out. They will hold all my mail here until we give them an address to sent it to. She said its very common. I posted about this same thing a few weeks ago. I said Homeless to! *Dawn* 09-10-2006, 01:57 PM We just do General Delivery to the zip code we are moving to and it works great...then when you get your address you just take it to the post office and they start delivering your mail to you Amber V 09-10-2006, 02:17 PM hmmmm...... That gives me a few options to think about. We are probably just going to have them hold it I guess. This is the first time we have moved without and address so it is new to me. Everett has very little housing and we want a yard so it just is not an option for us. At least from what the housing office has decided to share with me via the phone. Thank you all again CoffeeGirl 09-10-2006, 02:22 PM we have fwd'd ours to the dhs new command before & then fwd'd it to our new house from there after we moved in to our place Angie 09-10-2006, 03:05 PM The best thing that has worked for us to get a P.O Box at the new place we are moving to. You need to call the Post office where ever you are moving to then they will give you information on getting a PO Box. I just got mine in june before i moved here to Washington and it was like $26.00 for 6 months. All of my bills and mail was there in my PO Box when I got here so it made things really easy. Got luck sailorsbaby 09-10-2006, 04:58 PM We either sent it to my moms house or got a PO Box. PO Box was easier. |
