View Full Version : num of rooms matter? usnwife1205 01-10-2006, 02:00 PM Where I am from...if you have a boy and a girl, u are required to have them in seperate rooms...my kids are 7 years old and then 7 months...so on or off base is it the same everywhere? thx piggypunkinetta 01-10-2006, 02:04 PM For housing you it states that every child has there own room. As for renting it is up to you. My dd and ds shared a room for over a year till we moved into a 3 bedroom. Now my two sons share, we since a waiver with housing to accept smaller quarters then we are entitled. At the time there were not and decent four bedrooms available. HTH Lucretia wb3690 01-10-2006, 02:44 PM On every base we've been on if you have kids of the opposite sex they can have separate rooms..........I can't remember the exact regulation here, but if your kids are under 10 and of the same sex they share a room UNLESS your paygrade is high enough to warrant another room For example on this base an E6 automatically gets 3 bedrooms.....an E7 is entitled to 4 regardless of how many kids you have. My DH is an E6 and we live in a two bedroom because we chose to. We could move out into a 3 bedroom, but I really don't want to move again. I think alot of it depends on the base and availability in housing. rosebud* 01-10-2006, 03:37 PM Nearly all housing you can get the number of rooms dictated by your family size, ie 2 kids 3 bedroom house, 3 kids 4 bedroom. As far as i know the 10 year rule does apply across the board to military housing. HTH Tiffany 01-10-2006, 09:00 PM I have never heard of anything like that. Interesting... Donna 01-10-2006, 09:08 PM my kids have always had thier own rooms when we were in housing. the day i found out i was preg with Chris, i got a letter from my OB and got on the list for a 4 bedroom. if you rent out in town or buy your own house, it's up to you if you want them to share. unless they are the opposite sex, once they reach a certain age. i dont remeber what the age was, it was one of those things i was told in the parenting class i had to go to by cps. Nikki 01-10-2006, 09:48 PM My kids have always had their own rooms also. I thought for sure we would have a problem getting it that way since my two youngest are twins and the same sex but so far in Hawaii we had a brand new 4 bedroom and then we moved here and got a 4 bedroom also. AT1s_Sweetie 01-10-2006, 11:57 PM As far as base housing, I have always heard that 10 yrs and younger can share a room but we always were assigned a bedroom for each child. usnwife1205 01-11-2006, 08:20 AM thanks all.. i would prefer they had their own rooms but i guess we'll see how that works out! thanks! mara_jade81 01-11-2006, 03:48 PM it really depends on the command/base. in hawaii they give you a bedroom for every child but i know some places the kids have to share a room until a certain age or if they are different genders. summerlove 01-17-2006, 04:33 PM what are the rules for living on base without being married and with being married? how does everything work? if your not living on base and he is how often can you visit him? Caimbrie 01-17-2006, 04:40 PM what are the rules for living on base without being married and with being married? how does everything work? if your not living on base and he is how often can you visit him? If he does not have dependants he cannot live in base housing, he can live in the barecks. Technically g/f's are not supposed to stay nights in the barecks. If you are married you can live in base housing with him. summerlove 01-17-2006, 06:09 PM Thanks!! what are dependents? im new to all of this.. Spouse and/or kids are dependants. Until your DB is an E-4 to E-5 he'll have to live in the Barecks unless you are married. This baby I am due for soon is a boy. My other 2 boys are 3 years old and 1 year old. I am VERY busy, believe me lol. |
