the dog we just adopted, Bella.........They said they *think* she's part Pit/part Lab. They aren't positive. I just wanted to know what you guys thought. Does she look anything like a pit at all to you? If not, what would you say she was..She looks kinda like a Lab, to me anyway..what do yall think? I wish I knew for sure.

She does look like she does have some pit in her. Especially in her face. But I could be wrong. And looks very muscular! And she definatly has lab in her. Have you taken her to the vet yet? They are usually really good about guessing. I would say prolly lab/pitt too...

She looks like my SIL's lab/pitt mix as well. I definately think she has pitt in her but as mentioned above vets are good at guessing.

Actually, i don't think her tail was docked. Well not on purpose anyway. It's hard to tell in the pics, i'll have to take a better pic so you can see. I think her tail may have been smashed in a door or something, or it's a bad dock job.:dunno She has a bump/scar thing on the underside:( I am pretty sure the pervious owners abused her, because she's VERY funny about stuff. She gets scared easily, BUT, she'll snap in a second if she needs too (she hasn't with us, just other dogs and stuff, and she flips out when strangers come around...VERY protective already:worried :ohno She sleeps at the foot of our bed ) She doesn't like you to touch her at all UNLESS SHE comes yo YOU on her own, she'll let us know when she wants us to pet her. LuLu is her absolute Favorite! She just LOVES Lulu!

Oh and her ears.....I don't know if they were cut, I dunno though. They don't stand up thats for sure. Again, another crap job....Props to the previous owners :rolleyes

She's getting more adjusted though. She is getting used to us, and Rocco has become her pal, thank Goodness because it was "iffy" at 1st.

I see the tail in the first pic... Im betting the person who had the pups docked the tail! It is a crappy dock job. Probably used rubber bands when they were born. Freakin idiots.... if they did their own dock, they probably did the years... the backside of her ears definitely look like they have been "trimmed" down, but not properly...


My momma dog, in the puppy pics, did not have her ears done. Thats what they should look like ;)

To me she does. Her ears, the shape of her head, nose, look like pit to me. She is very cute. Her eyes come across as her being a sweetie pie.

I know of a couple local people that sell pups at the flea market... they do their own ears and tails. I hate that. The risk of infection, among other things is high. Its one thing if you know what you are doing, but most dont. :no

It does sound like she has suffered some abuse. How old is she? If she is young *under a few yrs* she will probably get over it, with love and attention. Ive got 2 rescued pits right now, that I cant let near George, or my husband for that matter. I believe they were beaten, though I cant prove it... one is still limping when I got her, her leg was tangled in wire, and left to rot. It makes you just want to cry. Unfortunately most shelters around here automatically kill pits or pit mixes, they dont do adoptions with them. :sadeyes I know I cant save them all... but they can be such wonderful dogs.

The first litter, will be 2 wks tomorrow, in another week or so I will do in person interviews. So many people dont bother with that. I think you should definitely know your buyers.... and always contract. Unfortunately not everyone agrees :(
