please note, all of these questions are generic and will be asked for all locations so some may sound silly. The questions underneath each area are only there to help you think. Please feel free to skip things that don't apply or to elaborate on things that I did not mention.

Housing:
(How is military housing there? Which area did you live in and did you like it? Is it affordable to buy or rent in town and if so what areas would you recommend? Any additional thoughts?)

Schools:
(Which schools did your kids attend? Did you like them? Did your kids like them? How do you think the school system was overall? Any schools you would recommend over others? Did you go to college while you were there? If so, which college and how did you like it? Any additional thoughts?)

Shopping:
(How are the commissary and NEX? Do you shop there or out in town? What stores are available out in town? What is the local shopping like? Malls? Any places you recommend? Any additional thoughts?)

Cost of living:
(What is the cost of living like? High? Average? Low? How did it effect your family? Was there anything special you had to do to make ends meet? Any additional thoughts?)

Military Community:
(How is the military community? Are there resources for family and spouses? Any likes or gripes? Additional thoughts?)

Recreation:
(What is there to do in the area for adults? For kids/families? Is there anything within a few hours driving distance?)

Weather:
(What's the weather like? Mild? Seasonal? Hot? Humid? Rainy? Cold? Are there seasons?)

Overall:
(Would you go back again? Why or why not? What are your main likes and gripes?)

Housing:
(How is military housing there? Which area did you live in and did you like it? Is it affordable to buy or rent in town and if so what areas would you recommend? Any additional thoughts?) Housing is ok. There are I believe 4 bases here with housing. We live on Sigsbee, in a flat, but there are 2 story units available though.

NO, it is NOT affordable to buy or rent here:no It is VERY expensive. Our housing was appraised at 1.2 million (the housing we live in now) only because it's on the water. It's a plain old 3 bdr, 2 bath house, pretty small too.

Schools:
(Which schools did your kids attend? Did you like them? Did your kids like them? How do you think the school system was overall? Any schools you would recommend over others? Did you go to college while you were there? If so, which college and how did you like it? Any additional thoughts?)

There is ONE middle school here, and its ok I guess. The closest one other than that is an hour away. My lil one goes to school on base, its a good school, but the cirruculum is extremely advanced. The teachers told me that! It's so advanced that LuLu just can't keep up, so we are seriously thinking of switching her to a school out in town (only downfall, no busses....thats ok though)

Shopping:
(How are the commissary and NEX? Do you shop there or out in town? What stores are available out in town? What is the local shopping like? Malls? Any places you recommend? Any additional thoughts?) We do have a commy and a NEX on this base. There is really nothing out in town. A SMALL Winn-Dixie, Publix, and K-mart. Oh we have a sears too. No mall at all! I think you have to go to miami for that (3 hrs away:sadeyes )

Cost of living:
(What is the cost of living like? High? Average? Low? How did it effect your family? Was there anything special you had to do to make ends meet? Any additional thoughts?)
Cost of living is HIGH HIGH HIGH!!!! EVERYTHING is so expensive here, it's a tourist town. That's why we try to stick to buying the majority of our things at the NEX or the Comm.

Military Community:
(How is the military community? Are there resources for family and spouses? Any likes or gripes? Additional thoughts?)
Thats pretty good actally. We have lots of resources here on base.

Recreation:
(What is there to do in the area for adults? For kids/families? Is there anything within a few hours driving distance?)
There is NOTHING for kids to do! NOTHING!!!! Well, go to the beach, thats about it, but that gets old fast. There are jet ski rentals, cruises, parasailing, helicopter rides, boating, deep sea fishing, live entertainment at the daily sunset celebration, and LOTSSSSSSSS of bars/clubs! Like I said, not really stuff for kids....

Weather:
(What's the weather like? Mild? Seasonal? Hot? Humid? Rainy? Cold? Are there seasons?) Well, its HOT, HUMID, and rains almost every day in the summer. The winter is all of 2 weeks of *maybe* wearing pants instead of shorts. They don't even sell coats here, only windbreakers:lmao
Flip flops all year pretty much.

Overall:
(Would you go back again? Why or why not? What are your main likes and gripes?)
NO!!!! I would NOT! I mean it's beautiful and all but, island life isn't for me. It's too hot, there aren't really any stores, and we are 124 miles from the mainland!:shock I can't wait to leave!:sick I'll make the best of it though;)
