I don't think Nick's command is doing anything for homecoming, half-way night or anything :(

At one of dh's commands, we had a "moms adult nite only" at a local restaurant with drinks etc & also a "family celebration" at a nearby mini golf place-It was fun! Hope yours is GREAT Rachael!

We had a G2G at the park with kids and families. The kids made signs and crafts and I took pictures of every one and we took videos of each family with a message for the SO on deployment and we are making a video out of the pics and videos to send out there.

They did a lady's night out. They rented the ball room at the Sheraton, had dinner and drinks and then they hired a comedian for after. I was in Texas but I helped out with it and I heard it was a great night and we're thinking of doing it again this year. If you call the hotels or restaurants, they'll usually give you discounts. I think about 25 girls attended ours and through our funds and discounts they were able to charge $10 per person for the entire thing so it wasn't bad.

We had a weekend that was designated for our Half Way...

Friday night, we had an Old Timer car pick all of us up at our homes. Then, we were dropped off at a Spa. Our husbands picked 2 services for us, it was all a surprise and we didn't know where we were going and what we were doing. Allen chose a facial and a pedicure for me...the husbands paid for that. It was nice because there was champagne, wine, beer, food and they gave us gift bags. After that, we went next door to a restaurant/bar and had more drinks. I ended up walking home with one of my friends, because we had too much to drink!! :giggle

Then, Saturday night we had dinner at a really nice restaurant here in Va. Beach. It's fancy and we dressed up. The guys made a video for us and we watched it, and then we had a few drinks. There was a table sitting next to us with 3 couples. They bought us 4 bottles of champagne and told us that they appreciated what our husbands were out there doing. Anyway, it was a really special night.

before they go out we do a video for the guys saying "hey its half way- i miss you i love you...etc etc...and they make one for us. its sent out to sea with them and when they have their half way night festivites its shown....we wives usually go out for dinner (no kids) and drinks and have a little party type thing where gifts are raffled off and the like. then we have another one for the kids...with crafts and movies.

We made a half-way tape for the ship and the ship made one for us. we went out to eat and while we were there, we had an auction of things there were donated. the money raised went to the homecoming funds. it was nice.
