So we were assigned in art today to write about ourselves either in sentences or poem form (guess which I chose..lol) But all the sentences had to either start with "I am" or "I am from". To make us think more deeply about ourselves..for us to use in future art projects. Here is mine:


I am a small town
and a loving family
I am hours of swimming
on sunny afternoons
I am the maple tree
that once grew in my yard
--so many days were spent in those branches
I am game after game
played late into the night
I am my friends, and the are me
I am late nights of homework
and long conversations
I am a walk with my love
on a Hawiian beach at dusk
I am a love that could not withstand change
I am a broken heart
still stuggling to fully mend
I am the believing spirit
who finds hope within despiration
I am a sister, daugher and friend
I am both smiles and tears
and music within
I am my past, my present, and my future yet to come

I keep all of my poems together in journals. I've wondered (secretly dreamed..lol) about making some sort of book, or attempting to publish some of my poems. But 1) I wouldn't know where to begin. and 2) I don't know if I would have enough good ones (or ones that I think are good enough) to try to do something like that.
