Good luck! :ohno I know exactly how you feel. I didn't feel the same way with Jaxon, for some reason. I guess I just felt like he was really ready and I felt really ready so it was no biggie for either of us. We did it and it was just done. With Shelby, it took me a lot longer because I wasn't sure if she was ready and I didn't feel ready. So, instead of just taking the crib down and going cold turkey, we did naps first, then slowly worked to bedtime. I'll be honest with you though if you want a piece of advice... I really think having the crib still assembled in her room actually made the whole process harder and more confusing. She fought me a lot when the crib was in there and she wouldn't sleep in her bed. I'd find her under her crib, beside her crib, by the door, in the middle of the floor, etc. Once we took the crib down, everything automatically got better. She started actually sleeping in her bed and staying there. So, maybe give it a try with the crib still up and see how he does but if you're having a hard time with it, you may wanna try moving the crib into your room for a while to see if having it outta sight might help. I didn't even think about it being a big deal but I think having it in there just confused her. It's been pretty smoothe sailing since we moved it.

Anyhow, good luck. I totally understand what you're going through :ohno If you don't have a baby gate on the door, I'd DEFINITELY get one because he probably will not stay in there on his own at first. We still have a gate on her door :giggle

Hehe thanks. I am sooo not ready either but I know it'll be best if I do it now. He's almost 2 and I suppose it is time. He'll go into a toddler bed til we move and then his very own twin bed once we move. I just cannot believe my lil boy is getting so grown up! I'm just nervous about sleep. We had such horrendous sleep issues in the beginning and he sleeps PERFECT now. So that kinda scares me. But oh well.

I'm sure he'll do fine. Maybe just make a big deal out of his new big boy bed when you start. Or put a blanket from his crib on there so he has something familiar.

Thanks. Yeah I am going to start with naps since I rock him to sleep for those. Once he is used to waking up and not being in his crib we decided to go ahead and put it in our room (the baby has to sleep with us til we move anyhow) And put his toddler bed up and do nighttime in that. We'll see how that goes...He has never tried to climb out of his crib so I never really pushed the issue. He seems very comfy in his crib. But I know he isnt a baby anymore. I got him off bottle at 12m, etc etc its time to get him in a big boy bed. :(

Kris, you'll be thankful to not have that extra battle to fight with a new baby. I bet once the baby arrives, you'll be really happy that Ethan is sleeping in his big boy bed so you won't be pulled in too many different ways. That's my main reason for trying to do it before the baby gets here. I just wanted to be able to comfort Shelby and help her through the transition without being stretched too thin and tired from getting up all night with Mister Hunter. So, even though it's hard now, I bet you'll be so thankful when your new arrival gets here. (L)

Yeah I know in the lingrun it'll be for the best definatly. We're just gonna do napttime on the futon for now as a test run. In about 2 weeks the crib is coming down and up goes his new bed. So he'll have no choice. I fully anticipate him on the futon in the middle of the night which is fine. Its low to the ground. So we'll see

Thanks all! (L)

good luck! we just moved trent into a toddle bed last week. i think it is easier for us because he never slept in a crib so for all his is that he is sleeping in another bed. it is nice though because if he wakes up, all he has to do and get up and find us. just be patience with him.:hugs

Congrats on the milestone! Camryn made the transition very easily, and I hope that your son does as well... Cam now sleeps in a full size bed, we skipped the toddler or twin bed route, since we already had a full size bed in her room.

Good luck to you. I most definitely reccomend putting a gate in front of his door. It helped a lot for us with JD. Although he will not go to bed and stay in bed all the time yet. We put him in bed and he will get out to play (even in the dark) and put himself back to bed. But he is now starting to have more nights that he will just stay in his bed until he falls asleep. We moved him to his toddler bed in February/March about so he was about 17 1/2 months.

Good luck, Blake made the trasition well, we did put a gate up at his door so If he did get up he wouldent go down the stairs. I started with naps than he got used to waking up in his bed than it was eaiser to get him to go to sleep in it.

He's been asleep for an hour and 15 mintues. He usually sleeps 2-2.5 hours so we'll see how close he comes to his normal time frame!!
