I just asked my Security Manager here at my work and she said,No they usually don't go to spouses and question them. I am in the process of getting mine right now and I do know that they go to every Tom, Dick and Harry that may have known you in your present, past and future. They went to a girls house that lives here that I know, we haven't known them for too long, maybe a year at that but I guess the lady stayed at her house for over an hour asking questions she wouldn't have the slightest clue about.......

I think it depends on how high of a clearance he's getting.

My DH's is fairly high and they are really digging deep!

The only way they will come knocking on your door is if your SO is getting what is called an SSI/SSBI (Single scope background investigation) and those are done on a case by case basis for Top Secret Clearances with special needs.

how often do they have to do one? i know jason has a high clearance for his job but i dunno when he'd have to have it redone.

I don't know if its the same for a civilan versus military, but I am in the process of getting a Top Secret for my job and I was told that I have to renew it every 5 years.

when they where checking out DH they talked to his mom my parents and they went to talk to one of his best friends while he was at work at pizza hut and they shut the place down for an hour to talk to him I dont know who all else but I thought that was kinda cool

Noone will visit you unless its a modular clearance.
