View Full Version : Tricare... Shaky 01-13-2006, 09:46 PM He put me on his page 2 or whatever it is call on december 28th, I haven't get anything from Tricare yet. Are we suppose to actually do something or once he put me on his page 2 does that enroll me automatically? I'm lost. Jackie 01-13-2006, 10:25 PM once he does that, you are automatically enrolled in prime..which is where you go off base and have copays and everthing. if you want standard, you have to go to the offcie and enroll in it. there is a satelite office at nas jax right in between the exchange and commisary in that little plaza vendor area. i went there and had the lady explain everything and she gave me a few books that explain everything..it was really helpful :) Caimbrie 01-13-2006, 10:46 PM Just being on the page 2 doesn't mean you are enrolled in tricare you need to make sure you are enrolled in DEERS. THAT is where you will be under his healthcare. amy24cali 01-14-2006, 12:36 AM when i was enrolled in deers it automatically enrolled me in standard and we had to go to the tricare service center at the hospital to enroll in prime... *Dawn* 01-14-2006, 01:20 AM this is coming from my dh who is a Yeoman...ok...with him adding you to his page 2 it enrolled you in DEERS ONLY.,.you have to go into a Tricare center to enroll in the heath care...Prime is where you see Military and don't pay a co-pay..Standard is where you see who you want and pay a co-pay. Shaky 01-14-2006, 10:51 AM DH told me the lady told him that we were going to be getting some stuffs over the mail but nothing has arrived yet and its been 2 weeks already. Jackie 01-14-2006, 11:04 AM oops..sorry..didn't mean to confuse you..maybe i should read those books again..hehe... Kaymara 01-14-2006, 11:09 AM Yep you are automatically enrolled into standard which is the co-pays, deductibles, and you pay 20% of the bill you can go to http://www.tricare.osd.mil/ and click on your region and find the form for Prime. Then fill it out and send it in. Once it is sent in you can call and choose your Primary care manager etc. Prime, for us, is much better because there is no out of pocket cost... Lindsey 01-14-2006, 04:34 PM I see you're in Jax there's got to be a tricare office there...it's so much easier if you go in...sign the papers bc then they'll give you a copy you keep until your card comes in the mail.... JudyB 01-14-2006, 05:43 PM You should be able to go the DEERS office and get enrolled in Tricare! That is what we did...ofcourse I had to wait until I was on his page 2. And depending on what part of the month you go, you may have to be on Tricare standard for a little while...for example..we applied June 29 and I had to wait until Aug first to be on Prime. If that happens to you, make sure when you get your Prime card that you call them and make sure they switched you!!! Shaky 01-14-2006, 06:20 PM Thank you so much ladies for all the info! I'm going to their office on tuesday and make sure I get my self insured :) Lindsey 01-14-2006, 06:25 PM good call it's always better to deal with in person...good luck! Shaky 01-14-2006, 06:25 PM Oh, can I come in by my self or does he has to be there with me? Caimbrie 01-14-2006, 06:47 PM He has to be with you :) Shaky 01-14-2006, 06:55 PM oh no, why? what is he gonna do there, say yes I want her to have insurance? lol Caimbrie 01-14-2006, 07:01 PM I don't really know lol I just know that when I went I was told my husband had to be there. Shaky 01-14-2006, 07:06 PM what a waste of time! Then I guess he will have to take some time off to go and get this done with me, he will love it though :P Lindsey 01-14-2006, 07:52 PM i've always done it by myself.... Shaky 01-14-2006, 07:53 PM I think I will still stop by on tuesday to get some info :) Thank you so much! *Dawn* 01-14-2006, 08:01 PM I have never needed Adam to go to Tricare...I signed up even by myself at an Army base while he was in bootcamp...and when we mvoed I did it all by myself too.. Kaymara 01-14-2006, 08:41 PM I've never needed Rod with me to sign up for Prime either...I just needed to know his social etc. Lindsey 01-15-2006, 07:28 AM I'll be doing by myself on tuesday. I have to switch regons |
