For all those who have done a PCS move I have a few questions. 1) When do you get your final move date. As of right now the move is 6 weeks away. The paperwork has been submitted 3 weeks ago. Is it normal to not have a date yet? 2) What should I buy to help with orginization? Anything tips that would help me would be great! 3) Does the Navy really give you your "moving allowance" 10 days prior to your move? I've heard that they take forever to give you the money.
I hope this move goes smooth. Its my 1st PCS move also hubby is at sea for the time being. The last of the 3 move dates we picked was the day after he gets home. -Thanks

Have you set your move up online? Some one should have called you with your final packout dates. You don't need to buy anything...make sure everything you don't want the movers to pack is put somewhere away in like a closet and put a big sign on the door that says don't pack this closet! Also as for the money your dh has to file all the paperwork for the money...he needs to ask for the advance pays or the Navy won't give it to you. He will have to put in for advance DLA and Moving (travel) or you will end up having to pay for it all yourself and save all your reciepts and then he will have to turn it into his new command once he checks in and then it will take about a month or so to get your money back.
Don't forget to save all hotel reciepts..you will be able to claime up to 10 days of hotel stays (not the ones for on the way there though)...once you get to your new duty station and your old one..so save all of theose reciepts and have them turn them into his new command for a rebursment...if you have any other questions just ask

Yes we did set it up online with the smart web move site. DH went to the housing office about this, all they told him was go to the website and you'll find what your looking for. :rolleyes I'll call today to see whats going on. Time is going by so fast.
