I came to this forum in hopes of releasing some stress. My serious live in boyfriend of nearly three years left for army basic (hes reservist only) and I'm not sure if I'm handling it well or not. It's really hard coming home to an empty house, looking in a empty mailbox. I'm having some pretty difficult sleep pattern problems and need some advice there. I think I'll adjust in time, but if I'm having trouble dealing with basic, I can't imagine what him being deployed will be like. How do you get over that initial sadness and slight panic? I really hope I can find some comfort with you guys and gals, I'm going through a rough time here. Of course I know its harder on him, which makes me feel guilty. Sorry for a depressing rant. ;)

Welcome! Don't worry about ranting, we all know what it is like to miss our SO's. Stay busy! That is the best thing to do. In time you will get a normal schedule for how things will work, until then just try to keep your mind off of the fact that he isn't there.

Welcome!

There is a wealth of experience here..some of us have 20 or more years of this life and some of us don't, but we have one common band...the military family and while everyone has different experiences and stories, we can all learn from each other

hey! and im happy you came to SOS! this is the perfect site for support, questions/answers etc. keeping busy is a big help! sleep pattern! lol yea i had to go on meds b/c of Db being gone. we didnt live together but we might as well have lol he was ALWAYS over my house. Get a journal for the night time! that was a big help for me. i'm happy to say im off the meds and i LOVE my journal. It helps b/c thiers things in there i can talk about that i can't w/Db. mostly b/c you can only tell them so many times you miss them, and then it's harder for them to hear that.

good luck! and keep w/this site, you'll learn to love the site as much as him! haha

Welcome! I know what you're feeling all too well. Just don't be afraid to have your feelings, knowing that they will pass with time....as long as you stay positive and busy. Pamper yourself every now and then, and also have fun writing him letters, etc. Even if he can't always write back or call right away, it feels good to know that he's getting yours... This site is a great place!
