I was just wondering how I could send a letter to my fiance while he is on deployment. Does a letter need more stamps than normal? What address do I send it to? About how long will it take to reach him? Any other info would be helpful too. He doesn't go on his deployment for a while yet, but I would like to get things figured out before hand. Thanky!

There should be a FPO AP address for his ship and you use his name first like in basic... regular stamps are fine as long as the weight is covered by the new 39 cent stamps.. it just takes a little longer... 2-3 weeks for anything to get to them... so if you are sending a gift or holiday card you need to send it early

The address is something that he supplies to you. you can also send packages and the flat rate boxes are great for sending care packages.

you can probably find his addy on the ships website... they usually have those available there... you just have to have the name of the sailor of course!! LOL... at least that's where I found DF's addy for his ship!! HTH!

Address should be something like:
Rate, Name
Ship
Department
FPO-AE 12345-6789

atleast that is how DF's is. Hope this helps, and letters should be covered by normal stamps, just mail early....and often!

Depending on the type ship how quickly they get it. As long as they can get a plane or helicopter on board it usually isn't too bad.

you dont have to write long letters. I'm sure your db would appreciate a pack of his fave cookies - just something small that says you're thinking of him

My husbands 6 month med run ended up being longer and the whole time they were able to get packages ONCE.
