LittleMsSunshine 10-07-2006, 07:39 PM I know it'll always be a stressful job... but where we are now... is this as good as it's gonna get? :( *Crystal* 10-07-2006, 07:42 PM I saw its only as good as you make it!! Like when my husband has jets in I will walk and take him lunch because normally hes to busy to leave, but I can spend some time with him there! You have to make the best of the situation! He is in a Pre Com (a sub that is still being contructed) and he has duty every 3 days at BEST and every 2 on an average (every 2 is port and starboard and it not something that always happens but my husbands command is crap) On a sub even during good times it usually never any better than duty every 4 days. Now a good command the guys will get to go home at a decent time when they don't have duty. My husband on the other hand is at wok until 6 or 7pm or later, even day after duty. So pretty much to answer your question.. It really doesn't get much better. The military lifestyle isn't easy or fun. Submariners typically have duty more often because the subs have a MUCH smaller crew. What sub is he on? ETA: You don't have to get qualified just before deployments. It's an ongoing thing they have to keep up with. What rate he is will also effect how much he works in a lot of cases. I know people who have had a decent fairly easy carreer in the Navy and others who have always worked a ton of hours... Command, rate ect.. they all are factors. |
