bailey liked it the first time he was there, he can call whenever, the phones there are weird. they have to get a cell there but you can buy a six hour phone card for like 25 bucks which is good cause if they call on their cell phone from home it's like five bucks a minute. it took a week or two to get his internet set up in his room but once he did he can be online whenever he's not at work. the time difference is kind of weird, he would be getting off work when i was leaving for work in the morning, and in the evenings he'd be getting ready for work the following day. it was confusing for awhile. he's at camp casey, which i think is near seoul? but i'm not entirely sure..and they mostly drink. a lot. they drink and shop a lot because everything is really really cheap there, clothes and things i mean. if you want to know anything else feel free to pm me :)

This last trip, dh was at Kunsan AB. Because of his rank he had a room of his own. He had a phone and paid for internet access in his room, and he had a kitchen. But he did say that living conditions for junior enlisted were pretty good. New barracks were being built. The food was good and lots of options besides the dining hall. We always used calling cards for us and for him which kept our long distance bill down. We usually talked at least once a week. Emailed at least once a day. Usually we'd each write one before we went to bed to tell all about our day and then again in the morning.

We lived there for 2 years. Where is he? We were in Chinhae, at the bottome of the pinninsula. Taxies are cheap, so even w/ a bumb knee, he should be able to get around pretty easily. Shopping is great. If you want a new purse, have hubby get them for you. I had a Kate Spade and a couple of Coaches. We also have several mink blankies from there. MWR should offer some trips I would think. Our club always offered something during the evenings. They had spade nights, dominos nights, darts nights, bingo, etc... They can go to the clubs w/o drinking. If you have any specific questions, let me know.

I just thought of somehting. A lot of guys got 2nd jobs around the base working for MWR at the clubs and some other people taught English to the Koreans.

My dad's living in Korea right now working for Doddea & I'm trying to get my boyfriend over there too. I've been there before a couple times as a vacation (meaning cheap shopping and cheap spa treatments) when I was living in Japan. I heard a rumor that a year tour there gives you priority for choosing your next station? any truth in that?

tell him to take a tour to the DMZ - the base might offer one. I went a couple years ago and thought it was pretty interesting. Asian countries are filled with history so I would say take advantage of that.

My DB did that a couple weeks ago, and thought it was great.

Hubby's not there currently, but has done 2 tours over there. First one at Page and second at Humphrey's. He really enjoyed going to the war museum. When he gets home I'll ask him about some other things. We talked at least 2-3 hours a day on the phone and usually another 2-3 on the computer. Neither of us got much sleep through either of his tours! LOL Check with you phone company to see if they have any plans including S. Korea. I know Verizon in southern Indiana offered something like $40 a month for unlimited calls to S. Korea and others offer heavily discounted rates. If you ship packages I think it took on average approx. 5-10 days to get there. Good luck! Message if you'd like! :)

Well my soon to be husband in 2 months has been there for a year and is staying for another. but we talk online every single day and we have webcams so we could see each other and whatnot.

they usually go to the bars and go shopping, but my soldier goes and plays pool. goes to the gym, barbques, and things like that. he tries to stay out of trouble and thats a good thing for me.

i dont know what else i could tell you but if you want to know anything let me know and ill try to help.
