I smoked until I was a mom. Then I had a family crisis and started again for...maybe 6 months...then DH and I both quit for good a year ago last August.

I smoked secretly from 12 to 14 yrs old. Then at 14 I told my family and smoked from 14 to 17 with family knowing. I quit cold turkey at 17 yrs old when DH and I started dating. He hated smoking so I quit real quick, LOL!

Yep i do. My fault. I started when i was 17. Ive smoked for over a year now, and i don't plan on quiting anytime soon. I know alot of people don't like it, and im not rude enough to smoke around those who do hate it, but i won't quit for anybody but myself. Dh & I both smoke, so when we both have stress out of our lives, we will quit. Im worried about my skin, my lungs and my face- but unless you have been addicted to it, you don't understand how hard it is to quit once you've began. Congrats to all the quitters!

I started smoking when I was 17 and I quit for about 8 months when my parents found out. DH and I both smoke now, mainly as a stress reliever. We're talking about quitting, but we want to get our stress levels down before we even try. Who knows how long that'll be tho..

I quit smoking. I quit when I got pregnant with my son and then restarted for a bit after I had him and stopped breastfeeding. I stopped smoking with this baby too and will hopefully not go back afterwards

That's how I started years ago but the sometimes turned into all the time. I smoked daily for about 13 years then quit cold turkey. I've been smoke free for over 6 years. Even though I smoked for so long, I really hated it. I hated how it ran my life and dictated what I would or wouldn't do, or where I would go. I hated the smell it left on everything. I am so glad I was finally able to quit!! :yahoo I will never touch another cigarette again!!

He smoked maybe 3 a day at max to destress on his way to work and back from work but quit a long time ago and glad he did long before I met him. Smoking it a DEFINETE turn off. :pukey he knows if he were to start again i'd be gone...good thing he hates it as much as I do :P

Thats pretty much how I am. I don't do it when I am pregnant though. Dh smokes and I will have a cigarette with him or when I go out with my friends who are all smokers or smoke alone once in awhile if I am really stressed out.

yes and no ... but NEVER EVER EVER NEAR LILLY ... she still hasn't seen me smoke

Kara
11-26-2006, 11:31 AM
No. It's a waste of money & the most selfish thing you can do because you are killing yourself & not thinking about your own children & family. I think people who smoke, especially around their children, are murdering their children without even knowing. I'm not sure if it's poor education or just pure stupidity. Either way, I think smoking should be illegal.

Rach
11-27-2006, 01:02 AM
I "partied" hard from 19-21 and so I would smoke whenever I drank. The last time I smoked was when I was 20 & there was one night where I smoked a pack (never had smoked that much) and the next morning I felt absolutely sick! I have never touched a cig since then & even when I was still drinking didn't desire one. :sick

These days, it makes me VERY mad when I have my baby & someone is around me doing it. I don't care if it's their right. Of course I leave the area, but I think they should be courteous & either leave or stop. I have been around people who have done that where they seen we had her & thanked them for being so considerate.

i did when i was young, to be "cool". then i realized how disgusting it was. i hate my father b/c he smokes. he kills my lungs along w/his. i am soo worried he's going to die before he walks be down the aile. anyways. Db use to as well and i made him quit b/c i cant be w/someone who does it.

Nope, as a life long asthma sufferer, can stand to be around it if at all possible.

aprilloveshim
12-11-2006, 01:31 PM
trying really really hard to quit, its hard when there isnt a support system around you. you lose allot of your friedns if they smoke because its just like any other addiction, if you're around it then you will most likely do it.

Smoking's not my thing

Dr. K
01-01-2007, 03:08 PM
NO! I've seen what smoking can do to an individual and what it's like to be "living" with emphysema or COPD. NOT fun looking! I also learned how to "clap" on people's chest to help clear secretions in their lungs (while other dieases can cause such actions to be taken, smoking is one way to do it to yourself) and would NEVER want to have to go through respiratory therapy of that kind personally.
