Although I'm rather little
I'm learning how to bake
I know a splendid secret
For making Christmas cake.
Since groceries are expensive
You substitute for all
It does not cost a penny
And the cake will never fall.
In place of eggs and sugar
Add lots of temper sweet
And mix it well with sunshine
And heat and heat and heat
Add heaps of love for shortening
And kindness for the milk
And stir and keep on stirring
Til it's just as fine as silk.
