I'm definetly going to see it..even though Df doesn't think it's going to be good and he said his chief told them not to go. Oh well, Df isn't the one seeing it, I am! Anyways, I'm just not going to take the movie too seriously because the Navy wouldnt even let them film on government property I heard, so how factual can it be? Who knows, it just looks good:)

I think it will be an exagerated version of what really happens. I have seen the previews and have to say that it looks majorly overdramatized by hollywood. The academy is more so a boarding school then it is a intense training enviroment. I'd really like to see a movie based on special op's training been there done that thats where the real intensity is.

Why the navy is telling people not to see it I have no idea. Probably for the same reason they tell you to clean an area the size of a broom closet for 3-4 hours sometimes the navy makes no sense whatsoever.

I want to see it,but Joey doesn't. He doesn't like military movies because I usually say, "Does that really happen." LOL

I asked Joey if he had been advised not to see it and he told me no, but he did say that one of the reasons they are telling them not to watch it he heard is because The Navy let them film on location at Annapolis, and the movie is basically not going along their standards. They have basically gone against what really goes on.

i did not end up going to see this, once ifound out none of it was even filmed in MD, so not even downtown naptown where the mids hang out. so my friend and i said "fuck that" its supposedly really unrealistic, and a bad version ofa n officer and a gentleman. i knew none was filmed at the academy, but no shots of the bay or downtown, what a joke

NONE was filmed at USNA, none at all, it was all filmed in Philly, MD has too strict of rules and the naval academy said no anyways

I dunno... my df said it was pretty tough. He reckons the guys aren't allowed to see it because it shows over-competition and stuff that isn't really seen at the academy

i agree..i went and saw it last nite, it was alright, it wasnt really like based on all navy it was pretty much following the whole boxing thing and this guy had to pretty much fight his way through the academy and what not because they didn't think he belonged there.

My husband saw it and said he thought it was really fake. He said about 75% of the people who were in the theater with him were sailors too. He said they were all told not to talk to the media because its not a movie the Navy made. He said they did everything wrong. They marched wrong they saluted wrong and on and on. I think he was disappointed

We'll probably see it when it comes out on DVD. The reason so many people are being told not to see it is because the Navy as a whole feels it's a very poor representation of the Academy and the Navy in general. Pretty much the same things heather touched on in the post above- marching wrong, saluting wrong, etc. I guess it's the navy's opinion that these people obviously didn't really put much into the movie if they can't even get simple things like that right. Supposedly, the whole movie is just a total and utter misrespresentation or nearly every aspect they portrayed. So, the Navy has asked to not be connected to the movie in any way.
