so i asked DB what kinda time they get off for thanksgiving, like freedom or whatever. he said they do it in shifts? like some people get these days off and others get these days? i'm not sure. he's on the uss abraham lincoln which is in dry-dock in bremerton. is there a way i could find out? :thinkin cause the plan is to surprise him for a few days :creep his friends are in on it :)

No idea. Dh told me awhile ago that he has had to pay his friends to take shifts on X mas day. Lol- thats the army for ya. Dh is taking leave over December though so we don't have to worry about it.

Most likely it's not a stand down (so it won't be considered leave..just liberty).. For Thanksgiving, DH is usually given Thurs.-Sunday. off... I believe.. Are his friend's also his shipmates? If so they'll be able to give you the rundown on what kind of time he'll have off.
