I believe you are one of the first. We just did the switch from navysos to militarysos so it'll be a lil bit before there are more Marine SOs

Marine wife here! Stationed in Corpus Christi, while hubby goes through Primary for flight school! How do you get the Marine Corps under your name?

punksuzy
01-28-2006, 01:45 PM
hi kate! :) let me see if i can remember how i did it. i got jealous of all the girls advertising their navy connection so i had to figure it out for myself LOL.

okay, try this link: http://forum.militarysos.com/profile.php?do=editusergroups and then select Marine Corps. if it doesn't work, go to your control panel and then go to edit user groups and select Marine Corps. :)

how is Corpus Christi? do you like it there?

I like it better than Pensacola. Of course, that could be because I finally have a two bedroom apartment! I love having a spare room to stick all of hubby's military junk in! What does your husband do?

katebossart
01-28-2006, 02:01 PM
Woohoo! I got it to work! Thanks!

awesome! now we're matching. hahaha

my hubby is an 0351 - infantry assaultman.. he was stationed in camp pendleton for a long time but we recently transferred here. he's now on an I-I staff, so he organizes and plans the training for the reservists as part of a 12-guy active staff.

i like it here alright but i miss camp pendleton because.. well, i don't have any really good reasons. i think i just miss being on the "big" base. and the fact that this is a navy base wouldn't bother me but they seem to do so many things differently. i can't complain too much, though. it was either this duty station or a third deployment to iraq. which i was not down with.

what does your hubby do? we have the extra room for DH's junk, too. but he's going to have to reorganize that because we have a baby on the way now! :D

Congrats on the baby! My husband is in training to be a pilot. He is a Student Naval Avatior in Primary. We have 6 months here for that, then it depends on what he flies for where we go next for his Advanced training. After that, he gets his wings! I can't wait for all his training to be done, cause then I will actually get to see him!

Im a Marine Wife also. Mine is no longer active duty, he is IRR.

punksuzy
01-29-2006, 03:48 PM
i know what you mean about not being able to see them until after training! psh.. and thanks! we're both very excited about the baby. :)

MW5M, what is your DH doing now? did he get a civi job?

MW5M
01-29-2006, 10:31 PM
Yep, he has actually been out for 3 yrs now. He was running a DM position for an Exxon company. They filed bankruptcy this past year though, and he has moved on to another company that actually has much better benefits. Got to make the benefits of a civilian job work for you thats for sure!

He just reupped his IRR this past year for another 4. He really would like to go back to active duty. Right now he is rated as 80% disabled though. He broke his back in mid 2001, and has had 3 surgeries so far. My theory is if his back hasnt gotten any better in the past 4 yrs, its not going to get better.

aww what a bummer. i always feel bad when guys get out and decide later on that they want to get back in only to find that they can't, for whatever reason. my friend's husband got out of the army for his ex-wife's sake and decided after the divorcet that he wanted to go back but he was too far out of shape to even attempt.

but that's good that you guys are in a position now with good benefits. i know my DH isn't planning on reenlisting, and it terrifies me to think of medical benefits outside of the military and our comfy little tricare bubble. eee! not to mention he is EASing in about 3 years and we have no idea where we are going to move to when he does. scary stuff.

anyways that's really too bad about your DH's back. i know it's not likely by now but i still wish you both the best of luck with it. :)

what part of Kentucky are you in? i have a friend that lives near Louisville. he keeps trying to sucker me into visiting him. psssh like i have money to spare for a plane ticket! :P

i kinda fit in both with the marine category and the navy. my bf is in the navy reserves, but he is going to be a fleet marine force corpsman..so im a little bit of a navy/marine gf. :) mostly navy but hey.

We are in south western ky. Maybe 100 miles from Louisville. Plane tickets are pretty cheap right now!

hi button! corpsmen are great as far as i'm concerned. :) the ones my DH has worked with (mostly when he was in the fleet) fight like Marines and are in general just really awesome. i have such respect for corpsmen and for chaplains, especially the ones with the FMF.

psssh plane tickets may be cheap but not cheap enough as far as i'm concerned! lol i need a new washer and dryer, not to mention i have a baby coming in like 5 months who will need lots of things. hahaha. my friend can wait. maybe you can go visit him for me? lol
