To all who can, invest in 2 webcams (and a laptop for the DH!). DH and I had our first webcam chat today since he left and it was awesome! :bliss If you use Windows Live Messenger, you can video chat, voice chat, and type to each other all at the same time! Also, with Messenger, we've experienced less lag than with other programs. This is a great way to stay in touch (if he can have a computer/internet access as we are SO lucky to have right now!) and it's almost like being together again! (minus the hugging and cuddling...)

Yeah good idea. I used to commune with my hubby before he got deployed. When he was deployed- the internet was too slow for all that. Even with Iraqna & Wataniya wireless.

Even though Jaymes is in Virginia we use them to talk, and just *See* eachother....I absolutely love them.

we did that the first deployment out of Va but it was mainly so that daddy could be "there" with us for Christmas/birthdays etc....

It was funny last night because he was in the barracks (he's still in pre-deployment training) and guys kept walking by going "WHO IS THAT?" and being all perverted and acting like they were 8 years old. Interesting to see what really goes on when they're there. I won't complain though - any chance to see my DH "in person" again!
I really hope the internet isn't too slow for the video once he reaches Iraq. Probably depends on where he is.

I LOVE MY CAM!!!!! LURVE it..
Every saturday, promptly at 0530, I wake up, shower, do my hair, my makeup, and pick out what I'm going to wear for my "date"..
Saturdays his duty day ends early, and since his roommate works the opposite shift, we can have our privacy... if you know what I mean..
I love the video conferencing feature on MSN....

OH! I forgot! When I bought my webcam, I bought the SO's one at the same time----from Best Buy..
I talked to the manager at the store, told him what they were for, showed him a pic of my SO in his ACU's, and I asked "pretty please" for a discount. I think I even squeezed out a tear or two...
He gave me 20% off both... Most people will throw you a discount if you ask..
thats how j and i communicated every day for 9 months when he was deployed to kuwait.... :) its awesome!
