My car is due for emmision (sp?) testing in Illinois where we bought it. I got a notice today that my Illinois drivers license will be suspended if I don't get my car tested soon. I live in California now and I have a Washington Drivers license that wont expire until Johns out of the military for 90 days. My car is still registered in IL. Do I need to get it registered in CA? If I do will I have to get new plates too? My tags from Il are still good until march.

I would call the people who sent the letter and tell them the situation and see what they say.

Hi Heather,
I would call the Secretary of State office for Illinois and see what they say.
When I moved from Illinois to Wisconsin I had to register my car in Wisconsin. My car was also due for emmisions testing in Illinois and I just had to have it done in Wisconsin. I also got new plates. They gave me temporary ones until my personal Jovi plates came in.
I hoped that helped,

Call & ask! The only other thing I can think of is to Write them & send them a copy of your husbands orders.
If you have a Washington DL, I don't think IL is able to suspend it for that. They are probably talking about people who live in IL. Most of the time, if you're not living in a state, they will let you get by without doing it.
Good LUck!

Ok I'll call them. If the car is due to be tested thats fine but I don't want to pay to have new tags and plates, I just did that in march when we bought the car.
Sheesh what a pain in the butt!
