my doc wants me to get a flu shot and i am 36 weeks pregnant. my family keeps telling me no cuz i will just get sick. and i dont want to be sick when i have her, but would it be safe for her if i dont get it??? and if i dont, do they give her one later?? i'm not sure what to do.

some people get sick anyway. You never can tell. but I would go ahead and do it. I'm getting one and I seem to get over sickness much faster when I'm pregnant. You could wait until the baby is born if you want. I'd rather be sick with it in me than out of me, easier to take care of that way :wink

When I was pregnant my Dr told me to get one but I didnt!! And when the baby is born she will be to young to get it!! So Id go ahead and get it!

Everyone reacts differently to the flu shot, just like any other vaccine. If your doctor suggested it then I would highly consider getting it. Like the other girls said, I would rather be possibly a little sick while pregnant than get the flu after the baby is born :shrug ...Also, you can always get a 2nd opinion from another doctor :yes

alright....i will get it then. i just didnt want to be trying to push her out while i have the flu cuz normally i am sick all the time...but surprisingly i have only had a sinus infection since i have been pregnant and that was due to allergies, so maybe i wont get that sick. thanks ladies!

Its a misconception that you get the flu from the shot ;) What happens is usually you already had the bug in you and your body was fighting it. You get the shot, it lowers your immune system, and the bug that was already in ya wins and you get sick.

However it is VERY advisable to get it since the immunitys will pass from you to your baby. And your baby won't be able to get one until next season. I couldnt get one with my son (I was due in Oct and they werent out yet) Had him early Nov and I got mine, hubby got his and we had to cross our fingers that he didnt get sick...

I need to get mine this season as well. The peds clinic was out today so I will wait to get my sons til next week and get mine too

ok....thanks. i have never gotten one before, so just thought it kinda made you sick. i was hoping that the immunities would pass to her, so thats why i want to go ahead and get it, but i was worried about being sick from it. i dont think i have been exposed but i'll just have to cross my fingers on that one.

Ive never gotten sick from getting the flu shot. I got one when I was pregnant with Jacob and we are just fine.

I got one and I didn't get sick from it!! I have to have one since I work in the healthcare field!!!

i never got any shots while pregnant with ds. i felt there was no reason for it. just go with your gut.
