View Full Version : Question - Ingleside, TX.
Hi Ladies, I was told there are a few girls from Ingleside here and I had a question for you. My boyfriend and I are leaving for Ingleside in a week and we still haven't found a place to live. We'll be staying in a hotel until we find a place, so I'm eager to get a jump on this while I still have my computer. Mandi mentioned Portland a couple days back, we'll definitely be looking there as well, but are there more surrounding towns/cities that we should look into? And while I'm asking questions, are their areas that I should avoid? (Sorry, I'm from Cali and out here, we take no chances ... lol.)

(Sorry if this is in the wrong place, there are so many places to post on this board.)
Germanchick 01-20-2006, 03:35 AM This is the right place. Just wait till tomorrow and I'm sure you'll get some answers.
Thanks :) I'm never sure where to put questions on big boards like this. Ya, I didn't expect many people to be up at this hour. I just figured I'd get a jump start on posting today while Russ is still sleeping :)
Germanchick 01-20-2006, 03:44 AM Just don't be afraid to ask cause you don't know where to put it either someone will tell you or Brandi will move it if it's completely in the wrong corner of the board. lol
Ya, I've been trying to step out of this shy-girl routine that I'm in, so this is actually good for me. I'll make sure to ask if I have any doubt on where things go :)
Mandi 01-20-2006, 09:00 AM Hey!! I think that you should look into Portland, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, Rockport! I really don't know may other towns out there besides theses ones! What hotel are you going to be staying at??
Are you guys going to be looking for apts? Or a house? I think I asked you before, but my brain is fried!!! Just let me know and i will see if I can help you guys out!!
Breezy 01-20-2006, 12:53 PM I personally would have to stay in Corpus Christi
If you are from a good sized town Portland will be very small to you and everything else is even smaller.
My dh is stationed at NAS CC so we go lucky to be on this side to begin with.
But he would have a drive NOT TOO LONG but still a drive to NS but to me it would be worth it to have the convience of everything else.
I have no country girl left in me lol so I have to go for city and CC is as close to a city as you will get around here
HTH
and this is jmo
Mandi 01-20-2006, 01:22 PM You know Breezy, I totally agree with you! If you want to live in a big town, go for Corpus, but if you are looking for a smaller town, go for portland. Ingleside is tiny compared to portland and almost no-existent compared to corpus! I would say that the drive to NS ingleside is what....maybe a half hour + or - depending on where you live. I totally forgot about corpus!! Thanks breezy!!

I am just partial to the city now lol
I just ain't a country girl any more :lmao

What hotel are you going to be staying at??
Hi Mandi, This is a really good question. I was talking to Russ today and he wanted me to ask you ladies if there were any hotels in Ingleside that we can stay at. I'm not sure why he wants to be in Ingleside, maybe to be closer to base for right now. I looked up hotels in my AAA book and I found one. Is that all Ingleside has? LOL

Thank you so much for offering to help us ... you better watch out though, I might take you up on that ;) As far as apts or a house, Russ really wants a house so we can get a puppy. I'm not sure how easy it is to get into a house, so we might just end up taking an apartment. At this point, I'd just like to hear the word "vacancy" and I think I'd take it ... lol.

I would LOVE to live in a bigger city like Corpus Christi. I'm used to Los Angeles and the huge amount of people that live in that city. At first the thought of living in a small town scared me, just because I'm used to so many people, but Russ would love nothing more then to get back to small town living. I'm going to let him have that, but I'm hoping to find work in a larger city ... maybe Corpus Christi :)

This is wonderful. Thank you for this info. Are there any open apartments there ... that you know of?
JudyB 01-22-2006, 05:42 AM Yes...there were gonna be a few available as of Feb 1st!!! The only bad thing is that they don't allow pets!! Here is another website though since you may be interested in renting a house....it is geared to the military, so they are all close to bases!!!

Breezy 01-22-2006, 09:06 AM Compared to LA anything but Dallas and Houston will be small town living for you guys.
I hope you find what you are looking for but there is NOTHING in Ingleside!
I would be locked up in a looney house if I lived there :lmao
I would be sitting in a corner fliping my lips with my pointer finger :roflmao
Corpus is small compared to Norfolk and Norfolk was small compared to SD
There are NICE houses available in Corpus and Portland you need to contact a realtor and have them start looking into available houses.
oh there are wonderful houses here in portland blondie/cher. we live in portland as well and are renting a very nice house. i know breezy is a city girl at heart and loves corpus but if your SO is gonna be stationed in ingleside then you really should look into living in portland , portland is much bigger than ingleside or aransas pass and while it doesnt have as much as corpus its in between both bases and it doesnt take very long to get to the ingleside base from portland. but if you are like breezy and are a true city girl and you dont mind the 1/2 or so drive from corpus to ingleside and you like having all your stores close by then corpus is your best bet, we just prefer portland cause its in the middle. good luck with your searching.
