Okay so i know there is no real way to know when the sailors get their packages, but does anyone have an estimate or no kind of how long it takes them to be delivered to them?

It all depends...I know for my hubs they only delivered the mail when there was enough of it to fly to the ship and deliver it...so one time it took about 1 1/2 months til lhe got a package I sent, and then another time it only took a little over a week....so it all depends. On average I noticed, on his ship it took about 2 weeks/ 2/12 weeks.

I agree it depends on a lot of factor, how bad the seas are, can a helicopter land etc....
there is no way of Knowing exactly

also we were told that ship mail only goes out on a certain day of the week...like with dh's ship, it is sent to his fpo address and thursdays are the days it leaves from there to go to the ship...so if i send him something from here, as long as i send it to him by monday, it gets to his fpo address in time to go out with that weeks mail..otherwise it takes a week longer to get to him...it's weird how it works...

DF got my package after about 3weeks. I was amazed it got there so fast! When he's in VA, it takes about 1week.

DH is on a ship that's homeported in Bahrain right now... (Thanks a lot Crew Swaps!) and it's taking right at a week for them to get mail.. when they're in port..

When DF was in Kuwait it took between 5 and 7 days on average. I think the longest it ever took was 10 and that was rare.

For dh it took up to 2.5months but most of my friends packages got there within a month or so... it just depended on when the ship was near something. When it was a long time inbetween ports mail was delayed. It would be sitting there waiting for them.

Keep in mind that the bigger ships often get UNREPed while underway, so they'll sometimes deliver mail to them while they're delivering supplies.. so it may not take too long.. all depending on the way things go.

This deployment, since DH will only be there another month, I only sent him one package. That way there's no chance of something getting lost in the mail, or having to have it returned to us from over there. Plus DH doesn't want to haul a ton of extra crap home on the plane with him.

haha Melissa get this.
I sent some packages to DHs det there were 4 boxes they each weighed 75lbs each. I got a company to pay the shipping.
Well The OIC said he recieved them but apparently he only got 3 of them. They came home in April of 04. I got the 4th box delivered to me the following Feb before dh came home from his other deployment :teehee.
The mail lady rang the bell and I was like WTF. She goes I have a package for you. So I am all excited that someone sent us something. She opened the back of that truck and says did you send this out? Heck it had been so long I had forgotten. All you could read was part of the return address. I was like why didn't they just leave it over there for some other guys lol

OH geez.. gotta love the postal service sometimes.. I was surprised that Glenn's package made it in one piece because I had it labeled fragile.. you know that's just a stamp they use to let the guys to kick it around even harder..LOL.. Anyhow I mailed him a jar of fire and ice pickles he'd asked for, and my ziploc and bubble wrap strategy worked!

My mom does that with the Mayo lol.
I only eat dukes and you can't get it here, SO she buys the bigger plastic jar and mails it to me in ziplock baggies and then bubble wraps it lol.
I told her to just throw it in her suitcase, she buys the plastic jars how bad could it be lol
