My DH finally graduates from bootcamp next Friday (Dec. 1) and I was just wondering if any Navy wives/girlfriends/fiances have any suggestions/comments about how their trip to Great Lakes was? We are staying at the Ramada that's about 4 miles outside of base. Any suggestions on food/fun things to do over the weekend?

Chicago has LOTS to do. The sears tower, navy pier, lots of muesems and such. I know its winter now but downtown should be all lit for the season and gorgeous. Great Lakes itself doesnt have much. There are 2 malls. 1 in Gurnee and 1 in Vernon hills. Gurnee has lots of resturants like Outback, red lobster, lonestar, TGI fridays, Uno's etc. In Lake bluff which is close to Great Lakes there is a resturant called the silo. Their pizza is just amazing. Its chicago style and just yummy.

I have been to Chicago though and we really enjoyed the Hancock observatory, the Sears tower, Navy pier etc...

i went to graduation about a month ago and bad a blastttt...!!

DRESS WARM!! ..
Hm we had fun going into chicago and sightseeing , definitely go to the hancock observatory if you get a chance, it was so beautiful ! other than that no matter what you do its going to be a beautiful experience! Make sure to take pics!!

I didn't know my hubby when he was in bootcamp. :(

Get to graduation early (6-6:30 was good for us) and be sure you know his division #. Sit up front even if the guy on loud speaker says you'll get better view from farther back. loud speaker guy lies. trust me I listened to loud speaker guy. Dress warm. we were there for graduation in January. Its not the time to be showing off your new dress. Go to Chicago its a beautiful city.
