When should I start using my test strips to see when my surge is?? I know it's hard for me since I am so screwy with my cycles but for the most part uptil Sept-October... I was between a 28-33 day cycle. July-August: 31/August-Sept:28/ Sept-Oct: 46 :oogle/ Oct-Nov:33... Anyhoo my 1st day of my last cycle was last Friday... Nov 24th. I am finished now with all that and was getting anxious to know when the most likely time to start testing would be... Im so worried I will ovulate sooner or later and miss it and not know. Guess I will just have to have more loving every other day :teehee
I am almost positive I ovulated around the 2 weeks after last month... but I can't really tell. I have the CM (sticky snotty sorry :sick ) on a few different occasions so it totally through me :puzz
Any advice? Kristi? Anyone?

you can start using them from around 2 days before you think youre going to ovulate, but i recommend temping and charting that as well, so you get a better idea esp cuz of how irregular you are :shrug good luck!!

I dont have any advice, but how exciting to plan for a baby!!! :yahoo I havent been able to do that yet. I was 17 when I got pregnant with DD, and it was not planned, obviously! Hopefully soon we will be planning!!:cp

Yep I agree. Because you are irregular I suggest a couple of things

First and formost if you can afford a fertility monitor BUY ONE. With an irregular cycle they ROCK because it is more testing. I am actually selling mine but I did promise it to Caimbre already should she want it. Tho you can find em on ebay and buy the test refills on ebay. This thing rocks for irregular cycles becasue it can ask you to test for up to 20 days if need be so you dont miss O

Secondly temp. Yes its a pain in the butt. fertility friend is AWESOME tho. But a basil body thermoter and set your alarm for the same time each day. You can plop thatthing in your mouth, take it, and go back to sleep ifneed be. Then record your temp...

Third. If you really want to use the regular kits I would suggest starting to test around day 10ish of your cycle (day 1 is the first day of bleed/period) It may take you more then 1 pack of tests tho being you ARE irregular. I was around a 31 day cycle so I o'd on day 16ish of my cycle. With E, the monitor, my temp, and the O kits all said I o'd on the exact day so I KNEW I had indeed ovulated and here he is :D

Fourth. Your CM you want clear, and stringy/stretchy. Like eggwhites. To aid in that you can actually take PLAIN robistussin from day 9 of your cycle until you ovulate. This stuff helps thin out your mucus and make it more fertile

Also more sex doesnt mean better BTW. stick to at the MOST once per day tho every other day is just as good. It takes sperm 24 hours to swim up there and 24 hours to recharge. SO the most you want to do the deed is every day. But every other day is JUST as good If you think you will O on like day 18ish start having sex every day or every other day around day 13 of your cycle. You are fertile up to 5 days before your ovulation day and for a day after. You want spermies up there waiting for that eggie

They sell it it in the stores. They are usually pink and it is specially made for TTC. it is made so that it stores your temp in it even after shutting it off so you can record it later. Most drugstores sell em. Both mine are purplish/pink

Your bbt, or basal body temp, can be taken right when you get up in the morning with a thermometer ;)

does it come with the strips though? those are like 30+/box and you have to wait until your next bleeding cycle to begin using it

my point was this, though... you can find packages online that sell everything... however, if by some chance you get pg this month using the ovulation predictor kid, you will have wasted the $$ on the fertility monitor because of the fact that you cant even use it until your next period anyway ;) :hugs

I just get bummed sometimes about having these darn irregular cycles. I mean everyone hates a period once a month but when you have it 28 days to the day it makes life so much easier :nutts
I'm going to try and use the 7 day one I have now so I didn't waste the money... I just don't like the non digi kind just shows the darker lines as your surge gets higher...
Josh said I could get a monitor or try to get one of those on ebay those come with the 30 test strips + monitor... but I will wait a month or so to see what happens! :pray :)

On a *28* day cycle... Im on day 10 right now... "supposedly" 5 days to ovulation. We shall see what happens. Im starting to get the CM but Im not alert enought to tell when its "go" time :lmao
I will start using the box of ovulaiton tests tomorrow I think just to see where I am... and go from there :wink

I would really suggest temping. a BBT is only about $10 at any pharmacy/walgreens/walmart/cvs. It is soo worth the money. I actually temped for a few months just to know my body better so it would be easier when we are ATTC. FertilityFriend.com allows you to record your temps, CM, OPK's, everything.... I know can tell by my body and no temps as to when I O because I know my body well, but then I was regular as a clock too.
