Good luck. I have never had to take it but I do know you have to drink more of that stuff and you get your blood drawn 3 or 4 times I believe. Once before and then every hour from my understanding

G'luck to you

I did the three hour test and I hated it!! I wasnt allowed after 9pm and I didnt go in until 9am! They took my blood, made me drink the nasty cola drink, then I had to wait an hour before they took more blood. They take it once every three hours after you drink the drink! It was horrible I was so sick the whole time because I hadnt eatin and the drink was so sugery! Just make sure you take someone with you because I almost passed out like 3 times! Good luck on your results! I passed mine!

You will drink double the amount but you drink it all at one time. They normally give you 5 minutes to finish it. :sick You get your blood drawn once before you drink it which is your fasting draw, then after 1 hour, after 2 hours and after 3 hours. So, you'll get a total of 4 blood draws.

I failed mine b/c I had gestational diabetes with my son. It was, however, controlled with a diet. So, I didn't need insulin.

Carbs=sugars. And sugars are bad for diabetics (and glucose tests :lol ) so I'd say avoid big bowls of rice and pasta and things like that the day before the test.

Good luck!

stay away from high carbs for the next few days...also watch your sugar count aswell...no juice or fruits..they are very high in carbs and sugars that are not good for diabetics.

Good luck!

They completely skipped the 1 hour test with me, and just made me take the 3-hour.....they told me I couldn't eat anything, but I was so hungry that morning, I had to eat SOMETHING (I forgot what I ate though).
They tell you to drink the whole bottle, and you have 5 min. to do it. The test starts from the time you finish drinking (I got mostly through the first bottle, then threw it all back up....and had to start all over again). You come back and have blood drawn every hour for 3 hours. It's long, it's boring, and I don't like needles, so it hurt. I called them to get the results the next week, and everything was perfectly normal.
The weird thing was that my doctor waited until I was about 35 weeks along to do the test....I was so glad when it came back negative!
Good luck sweetie! :hugs

if it comes back fialed..you will go to a GD education class and they will teach you what are the proper foods to eat to keep your sugars down. You will end up having to check your sugars about 3 times a day of not more. Hopefully it isn't to high and you have to give yourself insulin..I never had to do that so hopefully you can controll it with diet. Just watch what you eat and you should be ok.
