OK...I'm 8 weeks pregnant....now, with DD (which is my first), I didn't show any signs of sciatica until my second trimester. I worked as a Sales Associate at Children's Place, so I was standing up for 6 or 7 hours....and my back would hurt SO bad after I sat or laid down for an extended period of time...I would have to walk hunched over and limping.....my OB at the time prescribed Flexerol for me to take occasionally.

With this pregnancy, I can't stand up for long than an hour before my back starts to ache....and the same thing happens when I sit or lay down for an extended period (like for a nap)....I end up walking hunched over and limping. Did anyone else have sciatica earlier after your first pregnancy, or just me?

noo...I did too the second time. I actually didnt have it with the first pregnancy till like 34 weeks or something but in the second pregancy omg, it had kicked in at 14 weeks or something. It was soooo much more painful, the only thing that helped me was going to a chiropractor a couple times a month and getting it worked on.

My sciatica with this pregnancy hit really really early on...I can't even lean on my left side.

Things seem to happen sooner with the 2nd. I didnt really have sciatica pain but every once in a awhile with my son and this time I had it for quite awhile and a bit earlier

I only had it when I was pregnant with Emilee and it wasn't as severe as a lot of people have it, I did figure out that if dh rubbed it really hard with his knuckels at night that it relaxed me a lil bit.

sounds bad. So it's just really bad back pain? I've never had that and I hope it stays away. Now I will start worrying.

Mine is in my buttcheek and up towards my lower back.

I never had any problems with it until AFTEr I had Jaxon. I don't know if I did something during my labor or if the changes of my body just set in afterwards. It was HORRIBLE though. I could not walk or stand for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. With Shelby, I think it set in really, really bad at about 30 weeks or so. With Hunter, I think it set in at about the same time. Ever since I had Jaxon, I've been struggling with it. It flares up pretty often and makes it very hard for me to do anything that requires walking or standing for any length of time. And NOTHING I have found works to make it feel better. I've just dealt with it. :(

My pain starts from my left hip and runs just a little bit up the left side of my back but it runs all the way down my left leg, all through the side and back of the leg. Its horrible horrible pain.

Is it a pinched nerve? I had that with Lily. my lower back hurt so bad. The pain would shoot down my leg. I couldnt stand, sit, lay down nothing. My mid wife gave me a big velcro belt that squeezed my hips together. It helped for bit. once I got bigger it really dug it my belly.

I get the SAME thing when I am pregnant.

Is it a pinched nerve?

No, it's not a pinched nerve, because there's no leg pain....just lower back and hip pain. I'm thinking it's sciatica, but that's it just coming on a LOT earlier than with DD....but I'm glad to see I'm definitely not the only one.

The back pain itself wouldn't be sciatica, but the reason for the back pain could cause the sciatica if that makes any sense. A lot of time people with a sciatic nerve problem don't even realize that's what it is because they don't feel any pack pain, just pain in their hip, leg, knee, and/or ankle. I work in an orthopaedic office so I have to ask questions about this crap to the patients all day long lol As far as your question regarding second pregnancies, this is my first so I can't say if it came earlier, but I did have sciatica for awhile...It was a literal pain in the ass and it would run down as far as my ankle sometime. It went away though when I was like 28-30 weeks...maybe a little sooner. It went away a little before the time I found out he had turned, so I think my problem was that he was sitting on my sciatic nerve. If you're having problems with back pain and the pain shooting down and it doesn't go away, you might want to have your back checked after the baby is born...I say afterwards because more than likely you won't see anything on an X-Ray, just an MRI, which I don't think you can get while being pregnant.

I did not get it until about half way through my 3rd pregnancy. My OB told me to use a heating pad. It helped so much. And she said it was safe because I was using it on my back not my front where I carry the baby. She also told me that her kids are older than my 3 and she still gets flare ups occassionally. Good luck to you.
