For all the ladies that have lived or are living in Jacksonville, FL I have a quick question. I was looking at some houses there (just in case that's where we get stationed) and there were some beautiful homes in Orange Park. Is it a pretty nice area? Also, how far do you think it is from the Naval Hospital? Dh really does not want a long commute every day!

I'm so far from Jax now, but so bored here so I relive through reading posts. The hospital's on base which isn't far from OP. I thought Orange Park was ok. You don't like living on base? Houses are within walking distance to the hospital.

I've never lived on base before so I don't know anything about it :) I guess I can check it out!!

It depends on where in OP you're looking at...it's really hard to tell here unless you actually visit the area.

I think the houses I was looking at were in a newer part of Orange Park.. they were so nice and affordable, too. What I really liked is that there are a lot of single story homes that actually have decent square footage. I'm kinda tired of having to have an upstairs just to get a decent size house. Dh thinks we'll end up getting stationed either in Jacksonville, NC or Jacksonville, FL :lol We find out for sure on Wednesday and I can't wait!!

I have been looking everywhere trying to find pics of Jax base housing. Do any of you know where I can find some? I've already googled it and didn't come up with anything!

I live in Argyle. And yes the houses are beautiful. OP is not too far but the traffic is something in the mornings/afternoons. My husband is stationed at Mayport. He didn't like the idea of living on base. (we did that and didn't like it) You can try www.militarybyowner.com and ahrn.com. I hope that this helps:)
