kristy 12-12-2006, 10:28 AM I took the boys to the ear nose and throat dr. Finally found out why I have to SCREAM at Farren before he hears me. He has so much fluid built up behind his ears that he has lost about 28 decibels (sp) of hearing. He said its like he's got ear plugs in. And his tonsils are so big he has less than a dime size gap to swallow and breathe thru. So, we are having his tonsils and adnoids removed and having tubes put in his ears. Poor kid.
And poor Keith, he's been sick his entire life so far (14 months). Constant runny nose, coughing, congestion, etc. So he said his ears had a lot of build up also and recommends tubes before its too late on his and his ears get worse.
So my babies are having surgery, hopefully this Friday. And darn the luck they can't go to dads for about 3 weeks. Dad lives with his sister and they smoke, the dr was very adament about the boys not being around any smoke period. So unless they play by my rules and follow the dr's orders the boys will not go over there. Their health is at risk and I am not chancing it. Maybe, just maybe if the ass was alittle nicer to me and civil and not being such a dick, ie not paying child support, start fights every time we fight, then maybe I'd be willing to work with him so they can go over there. But until then, sorry buddy your out.
Ok just had to get that off my chest.
christymichelle 12-12-2006, 10:33 AM i hope thier surgeries go well. and your right about how your dealing with their dad.

I have had to deal with this myself. My oldest son had to got a set of tubes up in twice in 2004 and this year. He also had the adnods/tonsil removal. Depending on age he should be okay after a couple days. my son was only 2 at the time so his throat was sore but was in a pretty good mood he will just need tylenol as the doctor says, we stocked up on ice cream and popcisles and it helped. If you have any questions let me know and I hope the surgery goes well for your son.
kristy 12-12-2006, 11:17 AM thank you I will. He tolerates pain pretty well so I think he will do fine, until he realizes that on Monday he gets to go to Nannys (his great grandmas) she caters to the boys. So he'll live it up and play sick, lil turd. :giggle but hey I did the same thing at his age. so I cant get mad at him. But I know what my parents went thru. I just hope it helps. I've heard people who have had good results from tubes, my sis is one of them, but then I have heard stories from people who had bad results. I just hope his ears don't reject the tubes. He didnt start having ear problems until this year. He was never sick until he started daycare. go figure. grr
TrishaM 12-12-2006, 11:42 AM Poor little guys. I hope they both get better soon!
kristy 12-12-2006, 04:13 PM just got a call from the dr's office and they are schedule for this friday. thank goodness i cna get them well finally.
DoublEE's Momma 12-12-2006, 04:21 PM :hugs I know what your going through...Eian is getting tubes tomorrow morning at 7:30!! Everyone has told me that it's a minor surgery and it's fairly fast...the lady at the surgery center this morning told me that it only is about 20mintues and then they recover for about 30minutes to an hour. They told me it's not very painful and they won't feel much of anything....
I hope the tubes help their ears!! Here's :pray and :goodvies for your boys!!
Kristin 12-12-2006, 06:01 PM I hope they heal and get back to normal very quickly after their surgeries.
I wonder if this could be the problem with Elizabeth, she gets ear infections a lot, but my pedi. said not close together enough to warrant tubes and her throat is sore all the time and I have to repeat myself over and over for her to understand what I'm trying to tell her. I was just chucking it up to her not paying any attention to what I was saying :shrug
Armylove 12-12-2006, 06:02 PM Ihope everything goes well. Best of luck
Cherrish 12-12-2006, 06:34 PM I'm sure everything will go smoothly....I had my tonsils taken out in 2004.....and it's really true what they say: the earlier you get them taken out, the better!
I hope they get well soon!
kristy 12-12-2006, 11:24 PM thank you all for the good vibes and advice. . . Kristin - see if you can get a referral to an ENT dr. Keith has been like that and thank God for I suggested it to my dr. Farren didnt start getting sick til this year when he started daycare. He's always had HUGE tonsils but I didnt know they were that big they are like 5 times the size of mine. poor kid.
Navywife - good luck with Eian :pray our dr said the tubes wont bother them as long as the ear accepts the tubes so I dont look for much trouble outta that area. Farrens tonsils and adnoids are my main concern. He said he'll be in alotta pain.
The ass started a fight tonite. I was trying to be nice since his weekends are scheduled for this weekend, next and the following 2. bc of Christmas. So, anyways I told him dr's orders were that the boys need to stay home with me for 10 days to 2 weeks. He said ok. SO we start talking about Christmas. Well, he has to work so he can only get them on Sunday and Monday. I said ok no problem. Well, he started telling me that the divorce decree was wrong when it was filed and that i am a bitch. So I said ok well next weekend and the folowing 2 are yours so you can pick the boys up at 6 on Friday and return them at 6 on SUnday. He said ok you wanna be a bitch then I'll pick them up this Friday. I said me a bitch. You started the fight. And drs orders he said they are not to go to your house, not to be around smoke. Especially while they are recovering from surgery. He said Idont care what the dr said. He doesnt believe me.
He is not even coming to the surgery bc he has to go pick up his check. Thats more important. I said Dave they are you children. He said I dont want to see you. I said who cares. I dont want to see you either but I can be civil enough to put that aside for the sake of the boys. But what ever if you arent there you are only hurting yourself and the boys. I guess he doesnt realize that they will see how often he was there for them. Just like he has with his dad and mom. His mom put his dad down allll the time when he was growing up and he grew to hate his mom and his dad. His mom said one thing and his dad told another story. I will not let that happen, at least not on my side. I will not talk bad about him to the boys. The boys will make their decision on him on their own. They will see how he truly is in due time. And they will know that momma is always here and takes care of them no matter what. It breaks my heart that he takes his hatred for me out on the boys. but its his loss.
This turned into a major ramble. Sorry.
