skyangel51001 01-01-2007, 04:14 PM I was thinking about sending a "care package" to my husband who is out at sea. I was thinking about sending hime soem brownies and some cigarettes and was wondering if I can do that. Im not too sure about what I can and what I cant send to him.:shrug If you all could, please help me out. Thanks!
Jennifer 01-01-2007, 04:14 PM I don't think you can send tobacco!
LittleMsSunshine 01-01-2007, 04:23 PM yeah I'm not sure you can send cigarettes either (although i'm not too sure it stops anybody)
but you can send him other practical stuff. I sent my DB q-tips, chapstick, lotion and gum in his care package... along with lots of pictures and silly other things to make him smile :)
Jessi 01-02-2007, 04:29 AM I'm pretty sure you aren't aloud to send tobacoo too, but what about little things he needs like white shirts, socks, maybe something to read or music, a c.d you burn for him would prolly be nice, i usually send db some food, newspaper clippings, comics, and an item he requests...
JustBeingGinger 01-02-2007, 05:26 PM Yes you can send cingarettes. I sent mine like a total of 10 cartons and I claimed it on the form and never had a issue. I sent them over 6 months. YOu can not send lighters or matchs. For the brownies you have to pack them in jars or something seal proff cause they are considered "perishable".
I sent mine, Microwave popcorn, Peanuts, Chips, Ramen Noodles, Cookies in a bag, Slim Jims, Beef Jerky...tons of snacks.
Depending on where he is at you may also want to send him sunscreen and Fans that run on batteries. Send him chapstick and handy wipes, antibacterial gel, After sun lotion in case he is outside and gets burned.
Dang I spoiled mine!!!!!!!!!!!
stephensgirl 01-02-2007, 05:29 PM i would think about the brownies cause they melt and mine always needs tshirts white and socks and always stick something special that reminds him of home that helps
Kelsey 01-02-2007, 05:43 PM Where's the website that talks about guidelines for care packages? I don't know what it is, but I'm sure someone here can post it....
The guidelines I have read say "no alcohol, no tobacco, no pornography, no pork products, no mass-religious materials to be handed out" Pretty much everything else is fine.
bettyboop604 01-02-2007, 05:50 PM I used to send mine...
Oatmeal, Frisk mints, jerky, gum, cards, clothes (shirts and whatnot)... we also each had a mini tape recorder so I would send him messages, so that he could hear my voice. He always said that got him through. The recorders are pretty cheap. They just like being the guy that gets a package at mail call. I used to send one every two weeks, so sometimes he got more than one when there was a delay.
Have fun with it, they can make the time go faster for both of you.
usmcgf87 01-02-2007, 06:19 PM ive sent DB cigs and havent had a problem they have always made it to him :) but i know for a fact you cant send them lighters
grlwakocc 01-02-2007, 07:48 PM I sent dh food but it all had to be sealed off and I tried not to send chocolate because it would melt. But I know someone who sent ciggarates and they didn't have a problem. Good luck!
JennJenn80 01-02-2007, 07:56 PM beef jerkey, chap stick, and baby wipes are alwyas included in the packages i have sent!
