There is quite a few different apartment complexes around here. Depending on how big you want it they probably start out around $550 or so. Also depends on what area you look at. They have quite a few in town around everything as well that are pretty nice. As far as the base housing, I think you have to get on a waiting list, or at least you used to have to. They just built alot of new houses over in Midway Park that look pretty nice. Some people say its cheaper to live on base. I lived on the base awhile back and it was cheaper at the time. You probably would just have to start looking at some of the places when it gets closer and go from there. That might make it easier for you.
