View Full Version : How long did you wait?
2123wife 01-03-2007, 02:49 PM For those of you with more than one child or one and one on the way. How long did you wait before you started TTC again. I would like to go off the pill in July. Mainly because I know how long it took before I got pregnant this last time(we wernt trying and he had been deployed until right before Kaden was concieved!) I am no saying that I want to get pregnant RIGHT away just that I would like to stop using the pill and see what happens and then if nothing actually start TTC about christmastime next year. Kaden will be one in October and I dont want them to be that far apart. The problem is my hubby doesnt want me to go off BC until the beginning of the nex year 08. I have a feeling(womens intuition maybe) that he will be getting deployed again in 08 if not late 07! and I want to get pregnant before he leaves again. Any advice or help you may have. TIA!
mara_jade81 01-03-2007, 02:56 PM Madison was 17 months when we started trying again, but it only took one try :lol. I haven't had a problem getting pregnant either time so I didn't want to start trying until I wanted to get pregnant since I was sure it'd happen pretty fast. I wanted them about 2 years apart give or take a few months and they are 26 months apart. Was perfect!
Kaymara 01-03-2007, 02:57 PM It took me 9.5 years to conceive my son. It took fertility medications, timing, charting etc. After we had him we knew we wanted 1 more child but we didnt know when. I also had no clue if I could even get pregnant again or how hard it would be etc. We decided that when we could say to each other "I am ready to have another child in 9 months time" then we were ready to start trying. Because we didnt know if it would happen right away but we wanted to be sure we were ready
In May, our son was 18 months old and my husband told me he was ready to start fertility medication again whenever I was. I told him I wasnt ready to do the meds yet or the timing but I was ready to stop preventing and see how that goes. And we could start the fertility meds back up towards the New Year. He agreed so we stopped preventing. The very next month I was pregnant :) (L) This from someone who has PCOS, it took almost a decade to conceive her first, took medication, timing, charting etc.
So my advice to you is the same. When you can say "I am ready for another baby in 9 months" THEN ditch the birth control. Because you dont know if it'll happen right away or not..
We are very pleased with what the age difference willbe for our kids. We didnt want anything too large in an age gap or too little. They will be almost 2.5 years apart
G'luck
zoe was 3.5 when we started trying again... however, she's from my previous marriage... with my current hubby, we were married a month and a half when we started trying :)
USCGBoxerMom 01-03-2007, 02:57 PM My kids are almost 5 years apart...to me, that was perfect.
Angie 01-03-2007, 03:01 PM My son was about 2 1/2 when we tried and I got PG with my daughter the 1st time so they are 3 years and 2 1/2 months apart
*Crystal* 01-03-2007, 03:25 PM My daughter turned one yesterday and we are trying for another one now!
froglove 01-03-2007, 03:31 PM Well I wanted to start ASAP. Dh was deployed for 6 months and as soon as he got home we started trying. 2 weeks later I was pregnant. Jacob was 6 months when I found out.
SarahLoo 01-03-2007, 03:35 PM Maddie is 17 months and we are trying again now :)
bettyboop604 01-03-2007, 04:06 PM I have three kidlets. The are all three years (approx) apart. I have boy 10, boy 7, and girl 3. My eldest will be 11 (I still can't believe it) in July.
I think that it is really personal... you and your hubby know what is right for your family. For me, I wanted the older one to be at least on the way to potty trained before the next one.
It has worked nicely. Each kid got to be the baby and eveyone has gotten their own time with me.
IgglesmumX2 01-03-2007, 04:35 PM I wasn't trying but we got pregnant with DS when DD was 6 months! If I had to go back and do it again I would.
~Jess~ 01-03-2007, 07:42 PM Ella was born in Sept 05. We wanted one more close in age we weren't trying but weren't not trying if that makes any sense. Ella was11 months when hubby came home for 2 wks from deployment and what do you know I got pregnant the day he got home. So now Ella and Zachary will be 18 months apart.
Chrissie 01-03-2007, 07:55 PM Ds 1 was 9months old when I got pregnant with Ds2.
Ds2 was 22 months when I got pregnant this time.
Ds1 will just have turned 4 when I have this baby and ds 2 will be 2.5
Zach was 3.5 months when we got pregnant with Nikolai and Nikolai was/is 10 weeks and we just found out about number three. Zach and Nikolai are two days shy of a year apart and Nikolai and the new baby will be about 11.5 months apart.
mElIsSaE 01-04-2007, 12:14 AM Nate and Josh are 5 years apart it's ok but we started TTC when Nate was 2 and it didn't work when we gave up and just didnt care if it happend it happend and the next month we got preggo with Josh. We will start TTC in November When Joshua is a year old well we will not try and stop anything no charting nothing if it happens awsome if not that's ok. I think for us thats the best way.
Donna 01-04-2007, 01:04 AM Savannah and Gabe are bc babies. they are 2.5 yrs apart. Chris we tried for, and him and Gabe are just short of 3 years apart. This one is a major surprise, and depending on if i have it early or not. Chris will either have just turned 3 and will be about too.
stepiegurl 01-04-2007, 01:28 AM We werent trying and i got pregnant again when Ethan was only 8mths. so both boys are 15mths apart, and I must say its not as bad as everyone said it would be. You have your good days and your bad days!!
Krisha 01-04-2007, 07:20 AM There are 3 1/2 years between the first and second and 6 1/2 years between the second and third.
Cdawn45 01-04-2007, 07:40 AM We started at 2 yrs. We thought about starting around 18 months or so though...
Traci 01-04-2007, 11:57 AM I waited three years inbetween kids. My daughter and son are 3 years and 11 days apart.
There are 28 months between my 2 daughters and this one there will be about the same I believe.
I wanted my kids somewhat close in age since my 2 older brothers were so much older than me growing up. ;)
Well... we started trying when ds was about one, and we are finally pregnant with number two and its been 9 years. :)
Shep's Wife 01-04-2007, 05:36 PM We waited about 4 months after Julie was born to ttc Kelsey-they are 15 months apart. With Emily we had to try and figure it out between workups and deployment, it worked out great except they where extended on an 8 month cruise so he missed her delivery by 2 months. With Tori we waited until he had 9-10 months left in he sea duty to get pregnant, and it worked. She was born almost exactly 1 month after he went to shore duty. So our kids range from 15 months-2.5 years apart. I love it!
2123wife 01-04-2007, 08:10 PM Zach was 3.5 months when we got pregnant with Nikolai and Nikolai was/is 10 weeks and we just found out about number three. Zach and Nikolai are two days shy of a year apart and Nikolai and the new baby will be about 11.5 months apart.
