m sister-in-law is pregnant and due on febuary 5th. but we are leaving for washington febuary 4th if not sooner. and i REALLY want to see my new nephew!!! so i told her i would come on here and ask yall good ways to enduce labor! she said walking and something about rubbing her feet!! any suggestion!?!?!?!?!?!
the only "safe" ways to "induce labor" would be walking and sex... any of the other wives tales are dangerous... when the baby is ready to come out, he/she will come out. i tried a lot of stupid stuff when i was preggo with z and she STILL came 8 days late LOL
good luck!! :)

My friend swears by castor oil, she said to take it 8hrs before you want to be at the hospital. BUT, I would NEVER in a MILLION years take it. It's very dangerous and can put you into an emergency c/s.
Another friend jumped on my trampoline until her water broke, lol.
I walked, walked, walked, had sex and more sex with mine and it didnt do a whole lot.

I did caster oils with my dd and she was born the next day. I was already having contractions anyway.... A baby will only come when he or she is ready and NO sooner...
I tried sex, walking, threatening to take away her college fund but nothing worked to induce.
Now I did say I would take all her toys back and that seemed to progress labor a bit! :lol

Walking does NOT work. I asked when I was in the hospital with the last one and a nurse finally gave me the answer. The only reason they tell you to walk BEFORE you are in labor is to give an anxious mommy to be something safe to do, to feel productive.
The safe ways to TRY (and once again, just like a Butterball turkey, its done when its done and not a moment before) and induce is sex and playing with your nipples. Trying to express milk, even if you have none right now, will release oxytocin... the natural form of pictocin, which is what they give you in the hospital. Sex (with an orgasm) will also release this hormone. It is really the only way. This hormone will cause the uterus to contract and thus speed the baby out...
But once again, it will only work if the baby is ready.
Good luck to your family member!

castor oil was what worked for me! But be careful how much she drinks (unless she wants to be in the bathroom the whole night since it's a laxative as well as a muscle relaxer!)

I walked up and down the stairs several times. Each time til I was out of breath. I think that did the trick for me, considering my mucous plug came our a few hours later and then began having contractions...

DH tried everything he could. lol He 'forced' me to walk by parking as far away as possible from where we were going, he made extra picy chicken, we had sex... I didn't go into labor though. But when they induced me at 39 weeks b/c of pre-eclampsia I was at 3cm despite having had no real contractions. I'd say I had about 3 or so that I thought were bh because they were so mild.
As a massage therapist we are not to rub the wrist or ankles. those are pressure points and can cause contractions. Tell your brother to massage her!!

It's really not good to rush it along.
