How many of you at one time have lived seperately from your spouse due to there location status? And if so for what reasons? Also if you do has your SO ever used the geobach. housing while u still get BAH for living out in town?
We are going to have to go thru that for the next 6 months and just wondering how everyone handles it?
Thanks

Not sure how that works, but I know hubby and I have discussed it. I want out of here so badly, but the Navy and its cut backs. I am not sure I could be seperated from him that long.

Hubby and I did while I was in Canada and he was on the Lincoln in Everett. We got the family sep pay and I got BAH for Everett (they knew I was in Canada, there is not BAH for Canada). He lived on the ship, and when dry docked, he lived in bachelor quarters.
It was okay, but it is a strain on the marriage. He had a whole life that I was not a part of. He came home on the weekends that he could, but still, we had many issues.
But we got through it and then I had to get used to him being so close! ;)
Its a tough decision...

lol and here my husband is having to be there where u are HEidi and I feel so guilty that im not living up there with him..but when we met I already had my two other kids and because he would be moving up there for sea duty we both agreed it was better for me to stay here near family since he was going to be gone a lot. Now that I have the baby it just is harder cause its down to one income but we can do it he just has to live in geo...and on weekends still come home.

We did it for awhile, he was here in school VA and we were in Michigan. We waited till the kids got out of school and I was in the last semester of my masters. Its tough, but moving at the time would have been so much more complicated.

We did it for 8 months. My dh got an early transfer after Katrina. I stayed behind so that I could finish school and so that I wouldn't have to move my daughter during the school year plus it was her last year of elementary and she wanted to graduate with friends. For us it worked out fine because I was so busy with school and things. He was living on a ship also we were able to save alot more money because the housing allowance he was receiving for Norfolk was alot more than the housing allowance for MS.

They got rid of geo bach housing, unless your legally seperated. He has to stay in regular barracks, but you still get paid bah and stuff.

My friend is going through all this right now and it is so stressful, you should pm footstepswife about it.

You have to be approved to do that program. My husband was a geo bach after we got married ad he was in RI living in the barricks. He had to fill out paper work and then they go from there.
