I need confirmation on this-
If an AD person put in for a post that has an open slot for the MOS and rank, what are the chances of them getting it? Also, if this person was to reclass to another MOS to ensure they would be able to get that post and they just return home from a deployment, would they be "eligible" to go again or would they be protected in a sense... I think I know the answer to this one but I just want to be sure.

Hmmmmm, thats a damn good question. I would think they would be "protected" in some sorts but then again it would also depend on the individual units. If it is their time to go then they go. I do know that if a person were to re-class, if you will, in the navy that most likely that same slot they came from, (ship, shore) may not be open and would most likely be moved to another station all together. It really depends on what is available at the time you re class or swithc mos or whatever. Either way I wish you luck, I know it was not much help but I also know it is not easy to switch mos/rates so I do wish you lotsa luck.

Wouldn't it get awarded to the person with the highest point standing? :dunno

It all depends on his points, time in, etc. for getting the slot at the station. I do believe they are protected to a point from re-deploying immediately. My husband's gone or I would know more!
