Hello there. I am an Army wife. I live in Pennsylvania. Here is a little background about our life: My husband was active duty Army for 4 years as a 19D. He loved being a scout. He spent 13 months in Iraq. He decided when his 4 years were up that he wanted to be a civilian. So, he got out of the Army and came home to PA. We were so happy, living in a beautiful apartment, saving to build our dream home. I came home from work on Sept. 1st and there was a bag hanging on our door inside was an envelope. The envelope contained a letter stating that my husband had been relieved of his inactive ready reserve status to active duty reserve under his inactive ready reserve time (IRR). This was one of our biggest fears. We didn't ever think he would get called back. Nobody thinks this will happen to them, but it does, we figured that out!
So, his report date was Nov. 5, 2006. He reported to Ft. Jackson, spent a little time there, went to Ft. Dix, NJ to train, came home for x-mas and now he is at Ft. Bragg until his deployment window comes open and he leaves for Iraq. Serving under IRR isn't very fun, especially since I can't be with him while he's in the USA. I am still living in Pennsylvania. I graduated college and have a wonderful job working for a classic rock radio station as an account executive. If I didn't have a job, I would go crazy. We were planning on starting a family in 2007, but that is not going to happen until he comes home. Which we believe will be in 2008. Life hasn't been very good for us since he has been gone, we are both so lonely. I dream of the day he comes home for good.
I am glad to be a part of this place, it seems like a wonderful group of people to be with while we face our 2nd deployment.
