Hey :) I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about Sommerset England? My husband and I are are really considering some orders to a NATO base there....I've tried to reserach it but haven't been able to find a lot of info. Does anyone know about this area or about the base out there? any info would be great! :D

My friend and her dh just submitted orders there...they found NOTHING online for it...Good Luck though. those are really hard orders to get, but they'll be very good for your hunnys career...or so I hear

NATO is an awesome job to get! I don't know much about sommerset, but we are on NATO orders in Italy!

Well, that's good to hear. Yeah, we submitted for them and then for orders to just stay here in Jax. But now that he submitted them, I feel really nervous if we did happen to get them about moving all the way over there! Oh well, it'll work out either way :)

I know about the places but not the bases - what do you want to know?

Here's what I know about yeovil - it's one of the oldest towns in England and is a great place to visit if you love history (it even has a Medieval manor!) It's relatively rural (somerset is mostly farmland) - you'd be better off getting a car if you move there. The locals speak an entirely different brand of English with a right funny accent so it'll take some getting used to! It's not too far from Portsmouth so although it'd be difficult to visit on a daily basis, you wont be too far from a bigger naval base. The cost of living is high compared to most bases but is lower than London itself. I would highly recommend it, but I'm biased!!

My husband and i got stationed in England about 6 months ago. We're at RAF Mildenhall. England is great and you can pretty much get around easy! Sure hope you like it. Its a new experience to say the least :) . it really is beautiful wherever you go. ;)

I was in Sommerset over Christmas...It is beautiful!!! It is very rural. Not much around. If you love the outdoors it is amazing!! I liked Portsmouth and Plymouth as well. Everyone was very nice:)
