i was looking for something and found pictures of the insides of the new houses. Pretty nice. flat top ranges and side by side fridge very nice. Im not sure how the garage works on the side of the house like that though. looks complicated.

Wow. Those are really nice. I was just at Kristi's today so I saw the outside of them and was in awe just over the outside of them.

Those are really nice! I was there 11 years ago and the housing that I saw was terrible. I lived in the barracks but had some friends who lived in housing. It was pretty nasty. Glad to see that is changing

You can go inside and look at them, which kinds makes me laugh. They have 'model' homes for everyone to look at, why don't they just move someone in them?

They are pretty nice though!

We laugh every time we see the new houses because of how close together they were built. Also, the garages are on the sides of the houses and you share a driveway. If you have a big vehicle (SUV,truck, minivan) there is no way you are going to be able to park in your garage if your neighbor is parked in the driveway.

They have so many houses built up there but to me, it loooks soooo crowded. They have 20 built down here but Glenview gets them first. Supposedly we are moving again in a few months but lets hope Forest City is WRONG because I am NOT moving 3 times in less than a year

Not to sound like a complete dork but does junior enlisted housing mean E-1 to E-6 or ??

If that's the case where would E-7 to E-9 live?

ETA: Only asking since the link was for New Junior Enlisted Housing.

i just left there and i was not impressed with the way they were built at all, the driveways are the dumbest looking things i have ever seen. i lived in Halsey Village our hosue flooded, E-7-E-9 live in chief housing, there is master chief row in halsey and nimitz plus there is chief housing over in forrestal. some of the one they tore down first are nicer than the ones they left standing. when we left we were told our house was a demo. then they moved someone into it! i was not happy with forest city at all. and civilians are living in housing now. takes away that sense of secruity we get from living in housing ya know! For security, who patrols the neighborhoods? City PD or MPs?

Are there a lot of civilians or just a few scattered here and there?

I've lived in housing once when I was in high school and it was all military with MPs as security.

Great Lakes Police its Base Police when we left but anything big goes to North Chicago PD. i hated it there i really did we would hear gun fire sometimes in the summer time. not often but enough. and we could constantly hear the recruits! it was SO annoying if we have to ever go back we will live out in town just for the school alone. if you work and are looking for a job in a medical office let me know i might beable to hook you up..

I am moving to GL in Jan and we will be moving into one of the townhouses at Forrestal Village that were remodeled in the last remodel before Forest City took over. Does anyone know the square footage/details on room arrangement on the 3 bedroom townhouses? We are trying to figure out if we need to put any of our furniture in storage before we move. Thanks!

We will be there around the 12th of March and we are already on the list but I was told we have to get a old house 1st and then we should get a new one when they get ready to get rid of the old one. Who knows what will happen by the time we get there.
