I'm currently living on/near RAF Lakenheath in England. I was just wondering if anyone else is stationed here or near here. :) I've only been here a couple of months since my father just got sent here in Novemember of '05. My boyfriend is also stationed here so I'm slowly getting to know the area. Hope to hear from anyone else that's around here! :D

Lakenheath is about an hour and a half to two hours northeast of London. I found maps! :D It's about half way between Ipswich and Cambridge.

I'm moving there in April/May and I'll be around for the next year or so. How long are you around for?

Well, until May/June of 2007. Unless they make Kevin extend because we're getting married...

Brandy, are you from the States?

What is the weather like year 'round in England? I've heard it's real dreary. What are the people like? The media gives me the impression their "stuffy"....

Well, I'm a military brat and was originally born in Japan but have lived all over. :) I've only been here since December and there's mainly been snow and rain with a few sunny days mixed in. I've been told by several people who have lived here for a couple of years that the weather is generally dreary and gloomy year round with it's fair share of rain and fog.
For the most part, the people I've encountered have all been nice as long as you're nice to them. They can be a bit pushy when it comes to driving but that could just be me because I'm learning to drive a manual for the first time over here. They do have a more dry, slap-stick type of humor that can be hard to follow sometimes because of their accent but their generally willing to repeat things for you to help you out.

My Fiance' is stationed in London England at Lakenheath. He seems to love it. He said anything is better that Korea though(he was there for a year.) Im planning on visiting before hes deployed in the summer. Is there alot to do on base? Ive heard the shopping is wonderful in London.

London is great but Lakenheath's in M'sex (I think) which is a fair distance away. I'm not sure what there is to do locally.

i kno im late on this. i live on RAF lakenheath. its about two hours from London. On base there isnt much to do. but if you drive you can find some fun stuff. you just gotta get out there and do stuff. or you'll get pretty bored.

Last week it was cold , rainy and windy . It even snowed one night, but it all disappeared in the morning. .... Maybe the weather is getting hormonal :D
