I was exposed to a little boy that had it about a week ago. Tonight I all of the sudden developed a flat, lacy, kind of itchy rash all over my hands and arms. Has anyone as an adult had this? And when they were pregnant? I'm hoping this is not what I am getting, but I am going to the doc first thing in the AM.

I am just worried b/c they said it puts women who are under 20wks pregnant at a higher risk for miscarriage and other problems.
It's not a big deal unless you are pregnant. Other than the mild itching I dont really feel anything else.

I would go to see a doc ASAP. I remember some ladies in my Justmommies Due Date Club where in your situation. They did a blood test to find out if they had it right after they had been exposed to it if I remeber correctly. But aside from that I can't remember what else they were told to do. Let me go see if I can still find the posts on there

I've heard of it, but don't really know much about it. I would go to the doc ASAP, especially if you're pregnant.

Well, if you were exposed to it and now you have that rash... I would say you most likely have it. Go to the doc in the morning. Not sure about the concerns with pregnant women. I just know if you aren't pregnant and get it, it's no big deal, just itchy and more annoying. But go get checked out. Good luck!!!!!!!
Alex was graciously given fifth's disease last year at preschool. Her whole class had it, and every single person had red cheeks along with a rash. It lasted for a good month and a half throughout her class. Alex's cheeks were bright red, and she looked like she was wearing blush. :giggle
I'm not sure what the harm is to the baby, but I agree with the other girls to at least go and see the doctor.

My brother got it when he was a little boy and I get it sometimes in the summer, Only when I am really hot and in the sun, got a really funky rash and it is itchy. I had it when I was prego with my DS but no worries, the doc said I was ok. Hope the Dr goes ok!

I'd get to the DR. ASAP I've heard really bad things to happen to the unborn baby of a mother who has that.

I had it when i was in fifth grade. Back then I was the first in my schol to have ever had it and we had to go to a Dr about an hour a way for a diagnosis. I don't think its a big deal, because back then I recieved a cream to rub my rash and that was it. As far as your pregnancy, I would check with your Dr just to be on the safe side.
