So I called the appt line bc I've had a pretty high fever for 3 days and a sore throat....they said they didn't have anything until Feb 8.....So now I have to go to urgent care bc I'm pretty sure it's strep throat and I have a baby shower to throw this weekend.....UGH!

I don't know where you are but here at our Naval Hospital in Family Practice they have walk-in appointments and slots for this kind of thing. There is a wait I'm sure but it is a way to be seen without going to the ER.

That sucks!!!
That is precisely why I call Family Practice directly for a same day appt, if needed. Hopefully you start feeling better soon!!!!!!! HUGS!!!

That is the whole reason the I have Tricare standard. I tried a few time to make an appointment to see a naval doctor and everytime they would say a time that was like two weeks away. The last appointment that I tried to make with them for a sinus infection they told me that it would be a month. Forget that crap. I went up to tricare and changed over, and haven't had that problem since.

Tricare scheduling can be a pain. They have certain parameters the have to function in and they tell you nothing is available. They seem to be limited in what they can do but I too have contacted whatever clinic I am dealing with and tell them that Tricare isn't able to give me an appointment. I think every time I have gotten something scheduled through the clinic that would work. It's always worth a try anyway.

Cant you just call the clinic directly and tell them this is a sick call and not just a regular appt. thats stupid that they cant get you in today to see someone. I thought if someone was really sick like you definitely are that they normally see patients asap.

you could try calling the nurse line and then they may be able to make you an appt asap. I have had to call the nurse line before and if it was a situation like yours they would make me an appt right away. Of course that is at Camp Pendleton....I just prefer it there so I make the drive...it's possible balboa could be different.

I left a msg for the nurse but yet it's 1500 and nothing....sooooo I'm assuming I'll end up at urgent care tonight bc I can't take being sick anymore....

Tricare scheduling?!

We are required (for our hospital) to call the Tricare Regional Appointment line to schedule all appointments. This is a pain because they never have anything available in a reasonable time frame or at all. So when this fails, I call the clinic directly and they usually can help. I don't know how it works for other facilities.
