I need to add Preston to the DEERS thing and whatnot, but this is my question...DH is stationed at NAS Jax, but I live at the beach right now so Mayport is closer. Can I go to PSD at Mayport or do I have to go to NAS?

My dh said the SM has to do it because he has to fill out an DD1172 and to make sure the child is on his page 2 but it can be done at any PSD

On the Tricare website it said the spouse has to have POA for DEERS if the service member can't sign it or something...Maybe I should take that with me! He's on deployment so he can't exactly do it, you know?

I know that my husband has to get the paperwork, sign it, have his command sign it, and notarize it, then it goes to his ex so she cna re-enroll the kids in tricare every time they need it. She gets a specifc POA which allows her to enroll the kids(listed by name) in DEERS and Tricare, and that is it.

If he is deployed on a ship he can still do the paperwork...because every ship has a personnel office. My dh said it would be up to the base PSD if they wanted to enroll you there because he could do it on the ship.

If that's the case, I think I'll try the Mayport one. Based on our Navy Legal experience there, the people at mayport are much more helpful and nicer! Maybe it's just easier living at the beach! :giggle
