View Full Version : Wedding Dress Question
bubbleheadwife 02-02-2007, 02:45 AM I am frantic about finding my dress early, so I started lookin around online. I found stores online and ebay and the like where i can buy a dress, but I am afraid it won;t fit, I wont like the style, etc.
Did any buy their dress online and have any advice? Or those who have been lookin, have you found the best way to do this?
:shrug :shrug
SailorWife2B0620 02-02-2007, 02:48 AM Ive been having the same problem. I live in somewhat of a small town so we dont have big stores where theres dresses you can actually try on and fit etc. So the lady there just said you order what you like then get the alterations to fit good on you. So I guess Im just going to order from online? :worried
bubbleheadwife 02-02-2007, 02:52 AM Im just worried about the style. Cuz I love the dresses that look like Belle (from beauty and the beast). But I tried it on a few months ago and hated it! So kinda worried about that too ...
SailorWife2B0620 02-02-2007, 02:54 AM I get worried cause I found a style I love, but Im not too sure if it will look good on me. Somethings I pick out when shopping just dont look good on me and Im afraid of the dress being that way.
bubbleheadwife 02-02-2007, 02:55 AM Are most of the places you are looking at have a full refund policy? one store on ebay gives you three days to return for full refund or exchange. I think I am surely gonna look for that too.
SailorWife2B0620 02-02-2007, 03:06 AM I havent really checked, Ive thought about it. Ill definitly look for that. Thanks
akpnjg 02-02-2007, 06:28 AM I looked on the internet and found a dress on David's bridal website www.davidsbridal.com. I was in love with it. I then went to David's Bridal (which is like an hour or 2 away from me) and tried on dresses plus the one I was in love with. I ended up getting a whole different dress! It helps big time to try them on. I tried on many different styles and they all look different. I don't know if David's Bridal is all over but its a good store. They have so many dresses and have all sizes plus have bridesmaid dresses. Goodluck ladies on finding the dress. I just got mine last month!
SailorWife2B0620 02-02-2007, 06:35 AM Thats where Ive been finding a lot I love too! Ill have to drive to the nearest one (I think its 2hours away as well) :) Thanks!!
Traci 02-02-2007, 06:55 AM I can't tell you how many dresses I tried on. I don't think I would buy one without trying it on. i saw so many I liked but looked like crap when I put it on. I would make the drive. just call the place you are going in advance so they are ready for you. If I were to get one online I would get it bigger and take it someplace for alterations.

I think you will be happy to make the drive! Call and make an appointment take a couple people with and just try on dresses. The girl that helped me was wonderful. I got the one that I found on the website then she picked out some dresses. We went to the dressing room and started trying them on. I wanted simple! She had me try on the beaded ones that were NOT plain plus ones in the middle. Her and my SIL kept bringing dresses. I narrowed it down to two and put them on more than once. you do see which ones look best on you! ENJOY!!!!
My advice is at the very least go to a shop and try on a variety of styles... even styles that you aren't particularly drawn to. Once you have that narrowed down then start searching for dresses online. It can be overwhelming without really knowing what style really best flatters your figure AND reflects your personality and taste. Good luck!!
Ashnbri 02-02-2007, 01:58 PM I didn't buy a dress online..I would have but I found it cheaper to get the dress altired at the store you bought it from and I know I would need it fixed since I am so short and have a weird body shape...I looked at david's bridal, as well as a few local shops (the local shops had alot of good prices I found, on there sales racks and really pretty dresses too) I ended up going with this kinda expensive local store and got a dress on there sale rack that needed some fixing up and it turned out great. Also the dress sizes were weird..I found that in some dresses I wore an 11 and others I wore an even bigger size.
