For all of you college gals, which school (online, community, university) do/did you attend? i went to a private college for two years, cascade college in portland, oregon. then i transfered to the university of west florida in pensacola.

Do/did you like it? yes i liked both schools. cascade was a little small for me at times but some days i wish i would have stayed there. overall i'm glad i went somewhere else though. UWF was just the right size. not too big, not too small and had plenty to do and good academics.

What degree did you get or are you working on? well... i started out undecided, went to a sports medicine degree and then ended up majoring in english with a concentration in writing.

What types of things (jobs) can you do with that degree? oh gosh, tons of things. i don't even know all of my options.

For all of you college gals, which school (online, community, university) do/did you attend? I graduated from Oregon State University (Started out there, then completed it online)

Do/did you like it? Definately enjoyed college, probably too much. LOL! As for the going to classes and studying . . . I enjoyed the stuff that dealt with my major, but didn't really enjoy the other courses that are supposed to make you "well rounded."

What degree did you get or are you working on? B.S. In Environmental Science with a Minor in Environmental Engineering

What types of things (jobs) can you do with that degree? Almost anything that has to do with the maintenance and clean-up of the Environment, as well as for the states and Federal govt. who do the inspections. I was working for 2 companies: one we did the ground water sampling and reports for gasoline stations and the other we did the ground water modeling and reports for clean-up of polluted dirt and groundwater of gasoline stations.

I did do an internship for a company that makes "mouldings." Most companies who manufacture anything usually use some kind of chemical or cleaning agent that has to be disposed of, as well as if whatever processes they use, usually creates a waste of some kind that needs to be disposed of within State and Federal Regulations.

I went to Southwestern College in Chula Vista, Ca. I liked it there. It's just a community college, so it's nice and small.
I went to University of Phoenix in Orange Park, Fl I didn't like it there. It's too expensive and I didn't learn anything.
I am taking a class at West Hills College in Lemoore. I plan on taking more in the spring, etc. So far I like it here. I didn't have to pay tuition, so that's always good.
At SWC, I was taking classes for Office Info Systems. At UP and West Hills, my degree is for Business Admin. I can't WAIT to finish so I can move on to my Masters!
I can do lots with my degree. I would like to have my own real estate company, but I have no idea where I'll end up.

For all of you college gals, which school (online, community, university) do/did you attend?

1996-2001 went to San Diego State University, I LOVED it, college were truly the best years of my life. I had so much fun, made tons of friends, learned tons of stuff about the world and about myself, I miss those times sometimes. I got my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Elementary Education and a Minor in Spanish. I was to then to go on to work on the teaching credential for 2 years, of student teaching and more full time college work. But I was burnt out, and I no longer wanted to be a teacher when I finished my degree.

Currently I am enrolled at National University, and I am working on my Master's Degree in Public Administration. I started working on my Masters of Business Administartion at the University of Phoenix last year, but quickly found out that's not what I really wanted. Right now my education is on hold because of the current situation with my job, but I will be starting back up early on next year. I aspire to one day work in a government/public office.

:D

I just registered & paid today!! :D I start my class on the 3rd and it will be going to a community college. It's for 3 hours.

I don't know what I'll think of this college, but I did attend a university for a semester and really loved it! I love sitting in the discussion classes and listening to other people's views. That's why I hate online classes b/c it's not much interaction with others on that level.

It's a Sociology 101 class, so it is for Sociology or Social Work, if I go 2 yr. first.

As for things you can do for the degree, for Social Work, the title is pretty self explanatory :hehe

Do/did you like it? I loved it.

What degree did you get or are you working on? B.S. in Geology, with the Engineering Geology option

What types of things (jobs) can you do with that degree? LOL, you pretty much get to be a geologist (tend to subspecialize when you go to work). I am an Environmental Geologist, who deals mainly with groundwater contamination, but I also occasionally deal with burnsites and landfills. I spend a lot of time bailing water out of monitoring wells and writing reports about it.

Do/did you like it? I really liked ACC, it was a nice campus small, really good teachers who knew what they were doing, etc. UNF is the worst school I have ever gone to. it is incredibly unorganized, half the teachers barely speak english..people call the school UNever Finish b/c they do everything they can to screw you over. (ok, sorry about the rant)

What degree did you get or are you working on? AAS in Multimedia Communications (graphic design and photojournalism), my BS will be in Broadcast Communications

For all of you college gals, which school (online, community, university) do/did you attend?
I currently attend the College of Lake County, which is the local community college.

Do/did you like it?
Yes, so far. Although, I do wish they offered more online classes. At the rate I'm going, it's going to take me 10 years to finish my degree.

What degree did you get or are you working on?
I'm working on my Registered Nursing degree. Haven't started the actual nursing classes though b/c I have to get the damn general studies out of the way first. This semester, I'm doing my Psychology and Algebra. I'm hoping to registered super early next semester and get into the English class. They fill up FAST though. :sadeyes

What types of things (jobs) can you do with that degree?
I can work in many different healthcare settings. Where I WANT to work is in a hospital setting with Labor and Delivery or Ante/Post partum.

I'd like to maybe become a NICU NP. Gotta get my masters for that though, so that's a ways off. ;)

Mao

Brandi - what's a NICU NP?

Brandi
12-05-2005, 08:16 PM
A Nurse Practitioner in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Its basically like a very specialized nurse that works with babies in the NICU (preemies and such). I actually think you may only need your Bachelors, but I'm only working on my Associates right now, so it's still a way off. Plus, I'd like to work in the Labor and Delivery area first to experience that, before moving to the NICU. I just mainly want to work with new moms and babies in some way.

I'm at Ball State University in Muncie Indiana.

I do like it. It's supposedly the best place in IN for my major..so the classes prepare me really well. Sometimes I wish I could go home more often..but I guess i better get used to that..

My major is Elementary Education with a concentration in K-3. When I graduate I'll be able to teach anything from K-6, with extra classes on K-3.

I went to Interamerican University in Puerto Rico.
I did like it.
I have a Asociate in Hospitality.
I liked it and still like it I just dont like what I can do with it anymore. All the places that I could work with this (Hotels, Airlines, etc..) would require me to work anytime, anyday including holidays and I don't really want that.

Well, a lot of hospitals will ask for "at least a bachelors but MS is preferred". I think it depends on the hospital and maybe what kind of experience you have and such. I do know once you get your foot into the door of a hospital, they will pay for your degree a lot of times, whether it be your BSN or Masters. Thats why I was going to finish my Associates, then possibly start working part time somewhere (if I know we'll be there for a couple years) and hopefully get some assistance with my BSN. Then MAYBE I can go on for my MS. The BSN and MS actually are a lot easier to do in the sense that you don't have any more clinicals and campus stuff to do. You can obtain both completely online once you have your RN. So, I don't think continuing education would be too terribly hard once I make it through this part :sadeyes

Do/did you like it? I had a great time in college, what an experience!

What degree did you get or are you working on? II got a BSE (Bach of Science in Engineering) in Chemical Engineering

What types of things (jobs) can you do with that degree? Well, a chemical engineer basically helps build and maintain the mass production of anything to do with chemicals or plastics. So, I have a friend that works at a petroleum refinery and another friend that is in research and development for P&G. Now, I didn't do that at all - my career has nothing to do with chem eng. I am a systems consultant - i help companies install large scale financial systems.
