PITTSBURGH -- A University of Pittsburgh study found that women who become pregnant during the spring have a higher risk of delivering premature babies.
Researchers analyzed more than 75,000 deliveries over a 10-year period.
The pre-term birthrate for women conceiving in spring was 9.2 percent.
Women who conceived in summer had the lowest rate of premature births at 8.4 percent.
Researchers are now looking at such factors as sunlight exposure, dietary changes and environmental allergens in efforts to out why.
