About 985,000 Easy-Bake Ovens sold since last May have been recalled because children can get their hands or fingers caught in the oven's opening, which poses an entrapment or burn hazard.

The company has received 29 reports of children getting their fingers or hands caught in the product, including five reports of burns.

The recalled plastic ovens are purple and pink. They resemble a kitchen stove with four burners on top and a front-loading oven.

"Easy Bake" is printed on the front of the electric toy, while "Hasbro" and model number 65805 are stamped into the plastic on the back.

The recall does not include Easy-Bake Ovens sold before May 2006. Toys "R" Us, Wal-Mart, Target, KB Toys and other retailers nationwide sold the toy from May 2006 through February 2007.

The ovens were manufactured by Easy-Bake, a division of Hasbro Inc.

For a free retrofit kit, call the company at 800-601-8418. For more information, visit http://www.easybake.com or http://www.cpsc.gov.

I'm so glad I haven't bought one for my daughter yet. And to think, I was going to get one for her birthday.

I didn't see it in this article, but the article I read about it said that all the major injuries that have been reported to them that caused the recall were from kids who were under the suggested age requirment. I guess people don't realize that the manufacturers actually know what they're talking about when they say that

WCCO) Prior Lake, Minn. Toymaker Hasbro is recalling nearly 1 million Easy-Bake Ovens, because nearly 30 children have been hurt by them, including a Twin Cities girl.

Alex Grundhoffer, of Prior Lake, was operating the toy so that his daughter could watch, but when he looked away from the oven for a moment, his daughter was burned.

"By the time I turned my head around, she was screaming and she had her hand stuck in there," said Grundhoffer. "So she couldn't extract it herself so I actually put one hand on the oven and one hand on her wrist and pulled her hand back out of it."

Andy, 4, suffered second-degree burns and possible third-degree burns.

"That could be where the third-degree was and they are watching it to make sure that she has full range of motion, so that's kind of a troubling spot right now," said Shannon Onovern, as she looked over her daughter's fingers.

Photos show large blisters, redness and torn skin on Andy's fingers. Four other children nationwide have also been burned.

"The children that have been burned were significantly under the age grade for the product," said Gail Carvelli, a Hasbro spokesperson, responding to the recall. "The product is age graded 8 and up and it's marked on the box."

The box also warns that the toy can cause burns, but nowhere on the packaging does it say the toy can reach up to 350-degrees -- similar to the heat of your household oven.

Andy's family said a flap inside the toy catches and that's what trapped Andy's hand. It's changed the way they look at all toys.

"I don't know that we'll get anything that plugs in anymore," said Onovern.

The Grundhoffers are considering a lawsuit against Hasbro to help pay for their medical bills.

Only ovens sold since last May are included in this recall. If you bought one, call Easy-Bake during regular business hours Wednesday at 1-800-601-8418.
